A Steam Deck user whose device was damaged by their new baby reached out to Valve for a replacement case, and surprisingly, Valve sent them one at no cost.
One of the biggest reasons people love the Steam Deck OLED is that Valve consistently supports its users. Recently, this proved true again when a Reddit user contacted Valve’s support team with a simple request and received excellent service.
A parent’s brand-new baby carrier was unfortunately soiled by their newborn, making it unusable. They simply asked if they could buy a replacement, and the response they received from online commenters was completely unexpected.
Valve shipped a free Steam Deck case after a newborn destroyed the original
A customer contacted Steam Support asking about purchasing a replacement case for their Steam Deck. Their original case was damaged when their newborn got sick on it, and they’d like to buy another official case if possible.
Our support team informed the customer that a replacement 512GB OLED case for their Steam Deck had been ordered and shipped.
Valve has a customer for life

The post appeared on the SteamDeck subreddit and, like many popular posts, briefly brought a lot of positive energy to the internet.
One person observed that many big companies seem to believe they no longer need to listen to customer feedback, assuming people will continue using their services simply because they’ve become essential.
I was chatting with this guy who works at a local store, and he told me something that really stuck with me. He said he spends his time at work just giving away road salt to people who need it, and that life’s tough enough as it is. He feels like everyone’s always making things harder on each other, and honestly, I get that. It’s a good reminder to just be a little kinder, you know?
It’s fair to question whether Valve will continue supporting these projects, given their focus on new hardware. While the Steam Controller had a good start, the Steam Machine is still not available, and the Steam Deck is still in development.
It’s not the first time the Steam Deck’s toughness and Valve’s support have been in the news. Recently, a user contacted Valve after their Steam Deck survived a house fire, and the response from the gaming community was very similar to past incidents. Even for everyday repairs, people have been pleasantly surprised by the reasonable costs through Valve’s partnership with iFixit.
