The TV show Silo will conclude after its current season, but season 3 will be crucial in deciding the show’s overall direction and potentially, its future.
Apple TV+ has a lot of science fiction shows, but Silo continues to be one of the best and most watched. Since the second season ended, fans have been left with many questions about what’s next for Juliette, the mysteries of Silo 18, and where the silos originally came from. Because of this, anticipation is high for season 3, which is currently scheduled to arrive in 2026.
Season 3 of Silo is crucial; it needs to be well-executed because the show’s future on Apple TV depends on it. After the events of season 2, this next season could either solidify Silo as a hit or lead to its cancellation.
Silo Season 3 Cannot Afford To Repeat Season 2’s Biggest Storytelling Mistake
The first season of Silo was a big success on Apple TV, consistently keeping viewers gripped. It immediately surprised audiences by killing off what seemed like its main characters, Allison and Holston. As the story unfolded, it became increasingly easy to get lost in the characters’ fears and the sense of mystery surrounding their world.
The first season of Silo ended with a thrilling finale that sets up the second season beautifully. Season two continued the show’s success, effectively adapting many ideas from Hugh Howey’s original novels.
However, it cannot be denied that Silo season 2 had some clear pacing issues from the very beginning.
Despite receiving positive reviews and good viewership on Apple TV, the second season of Silo faced criticism early on because the storyline for the character Juliette didn’t move forward quickly enough.
Juliette’s storyline often felt padded with unimportant scenes, which slowed the show’s momentum. The third season of Silo needs to learn from this and avoid repeating the mistakes of season 2. While season 2 recovered with a strong ending, season 3 will face greater scrutiny and higher expectations, meaning it can’t afford any similar slow points.
With Silo concluding after season 4, season 3 needs to be significantly more compelling than the first two seasons to generate enough interest for the show’s finale.
Silo Season 3 Has 1 Major Advantage Over Season 2
The ending of Silo season 2 closely follows the plot of the first book in Hugh Howey’s series. This means the show now needs to adapt the remaining two books into just two more seasons. While this could be good, forcing a focused storyline without unnecessary detours, there’s a risk of the Apple TV sci-fi show feeling hurried if it tries to fit too many important plot points and character developments into its limited time.
After the slower pace of season two, Silo would improve with a more focused and quickly moving story. It looks like the upcoming season will deliver this, as it promises to explore everything from Juliette regaining her position in Silo 18 to the backstory and creation of the silos themselves.
Fans are hoping season 3 of Silo will be a strong improvement over season 2 and live up to the high expectations.
