Ian McKellen, a lead actor in the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday, accidentally revealed a significant plot detail.
While talking to Jake Hamilton on his YouTube show, Jake’s Takes, actor Ian McKellen, known for playing Magneto in the X-Men films, let slip a potential plot point for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. McKellen jokingly said he had “destroyed New Jersey the other day,” then quickly added that he shouldn’t have revealed that information.
Despite being given a significant spoiler, Hamilton acted remarkably calm and quickly changed the subject without pressing for details. This showed impressive professionalism – he clearly understood and respected the rule that Marvel actors aren’t allowed to reveal plot points. It was admirable that he didn’t push for more information, as many other interviewers probably would have been eager to get a scoop.
McKellen and Stewart talked about McKellen returning to play Magneto (Erik Lehnsherr) after a 12-year gap since his last appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past. McKellen enjoyed working with Stewart again, as the two actors have a long history playing their respective roles in several X-Men films, including X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Ian McKellen’s remarks sparked a lot of discussion online about the Disney+ show Ms. Marvel. The series established that Kamala Khan (played by Iman Vellani) lives in New Jersey and, in the final episode, revealed she possesses the X-Gene. This led many fans to believe Magneto was searching for her in New Jersey. While Iman Vellani hasn’t been officially confirmed to be in Avengers: Doomsday yet, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has hinted that not all cast members have been announced.
