Key Highlights
- The buyback is part of a strategy announced in December 2025 to repurchase stock whenever it trades below NAV.
- CEO Anthony Pompliano described the buyback as a standard investment principle.
ProCapital Financial, Inc. (Nasdaq: BRR), that paragon of Bitcoin treasury firms, repurchased 148,241 shares of its common stock on February 20, 2026, as part of an ongoing effort to bridge the chasm between market price and net asset value (NAV). The shares, procured at a mere 65 cents on the dollar, represented a 35% discount to the company’s NAV-a financial equivalent of purchasing a diamond ring at the price of a pebble.
According to the official announcement, the buyback is part of a strategy announced in December 2025 to repurchase stock whenever it trades below NAV. Management, ever the sanguine optimists, indicated it will continue buying shares aggressively as long as the discount persists, as if the market’s whims were a puzzle to be solved with a well-timed purchase.
Bitcoin holdings drive NAV strategy
ProCap, that self-proclaimed custodian of digital gold, holds 5,007 Bitcoin (BTC), currently valued at around $335 million, alongside $70 million in cash and $100 million in convertible debt. With a NAV of approximately $305 million and 83.3 million basic shares outstanding, the company’s stock has been trading at a substantial discount, prompting the share repurchase. At the time of this writing, the stock is trading at $2.36-a price that would make even a penny-pinching squirrel blush.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin, that fickle darling, is currently trading at $64,756, reflecting a decline of nearly 3.79% from the previous day. The digital asset has fallen nearly 47% from its October 2025 peak of over $125,000. Despite this volatility, ProCap’s buyback strategy, a testament to the company’s unwavering faith in the long-term value of its Bitcoin holdings and its shares, proceeds with the determination of a man chasing a mirage.
