In Paralives, building relationships – whether friendships or romances – requires effort. If you’re accustomed to the easy relationship-building in games like The Sims, especially from The Sims 2 onward, you might find Paralives more challenging. The game adds a bit of chance to the process, but this could feel more realistic, as real-life relationships aren’t always simple or guaranteed.
In Paralives, the ‘Storyteller’ setting is key to managing relationships. It controls how easy or hard it is to form bonds with other characters. If you’re struggling with relationships (or the game in general), you can adjust the Storyteller in the game’s menu – it’s the main way to change the difficulty level throughout the game.
Starting a Relationship
Okay, so once you’ve got two Paras you’re hoping will get together, just start them chatting. As they talk, a little bar will fill up. When it’s full, you can click it to really influence how their relationship develops. Most of the choices you make will boost their mood and get them closer, but be careful! There are some options that can actually hurt their relationship – like choosing to end the conversation early. If you’re aiming for a romance and want to keep it going, I’d definitely avoid those negative choices!
You’re trying to find cards that allow you to talk about how the relationship is going, as there are different options for how it can progress. Specifically, you need the card that lets you define the relationship as exclusive to show up.
Whenever you see a card with romantic or playful themes – like kissing or winking – choose that one. The only time to make an exception is if a Storyteller card is also available and it specifically improves your relationship with that character. It’s a gradual process, but consistently choosing these cards will strengthen your bond and unlock more options for developing the relationship.
How to Get Married in Paralives
As you build a stronger connection with someone through playful interactions and increasing their affection for you, you’ll unlock more ways to take your relationship to the next level. However, these options appear randomly, so you’ll need a bit of luck to find the proposal option. This option shows a percentage, indicating your chances of success. When you choose it, a spinning wheel determines if the proposal is accepted – if the needle lands in the green zone, you’re engaged!
If the proposal doesn’t work, just keep trying again and again until the option comes up and hopefully it will be accepted this time.

Just like with the proposal option, you’ll need to wait for marriage choices to show up if you want your Paras to get married. The first choice you’ll probably see is to elope, and if you choose that, your Paras will be married!
The romance system is a bit tricky at the moment. It would be great if, when interacting with a Para in a relationship, you could directly propose, get married, or move in together through a dedicated menu. Right now, finding romance in Paralives takes a lot of effort and a bit of luck.
