McDonald’s is offering Super Mario Galaxy toys in Happy Meals to celebrate the new Super Mario movie.
I’m so excited! The sequel to the amazing Super Mario Bros. Movie, Super Mario Galaxy, is coming out in theaters on April 1st! And to make things even better, Nintendo is teaming up with McDonald’s to celebrate! I can’t wait!
McDonald’s announced on March 19th that its Happy Meals would include toys based on characters from the new movie, such as Bowser, Luigi, Peach, Luma, Toad, Birdo, and Yoshi.
In total, there will be 12 toys to collect, but the fun doesn’t stop there.
Mario Galaxy Happy Meal comes with special games
McDonald’s says that, along with the 12 collectible toys, customers can scan a QR code on the packaging to play exclusive games online.
McDonald’s encourages customers to keep the fun going online at HappyMeal.com with puzzles and games, even after they’ve finished their meal, like the apple slices.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie Happy Meal will arrive on March 26th, shortly before the movie hits theaters.
This isn’t the first partnership between Nintendo and McDonald’s. A particularly memorable collaboration happened in 1990, when McDonald’s released toys based on the popular NES game, Super Mario Bros. 3.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is expected to be a success, and many fans believe it could lead to a movie based on the Super Smash Bros. series in the future.
Based on trailers and previews, it looks like Fox McCloud from Star Fox will appear briefly in the game, alongside other familiar faces like Pikmin and ROB.
Meanwhile, a Legend of Zelda movie is still in development and set to release in 2027.
