Bryan Fuller wrote, produced, and directed Dust Bunny. He’s also the creative force behind the TV series Hannibal, featuring Mads Mikkelsen as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, which was adapted from the novels by Thomas Harris. Fuller is also known for creating Pushing Daisies and co-creating Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Short Treks.

What Is Dust Bunny About?

Dust Bunny is a fantasy adventure movie about a 12-year-old girl named Aurora who’s convinced a monster lives under her bed. When her parents are attacked, she’s certain it’s the monster’s fault. Since her parents don’t believe her warnings, Aurora takes matters into her own hands and asks a hitman next door to get rid of it.

Aurora lives next door to a man she thinks is a dragon slayer – she actually saw him seemingly kill a dragon, but it was just a group performing with a dragon puppet. Despite this, she asks him for help with a ‘monster’ she believes is living under her bed, even though he’s skeptical about it too.

Sophie Sloan stars as Aurora, and Sigourney Weaver plays Laverne, who manages Aurora. The film also features Sheila Atim, David Dastmalchian, Rebecca Henderson, and Line Kruse. While Dust Bunny didn’t gain much attention in cinemas despite good reviews, it’s now proving popular with viewers on streaming platforms.

Dust Bunny Has an Impressive Rotten Tomatoes Score

The movie Dust Bunny received positive reviews and was a critical success. It currently has an 86% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on reviews from critics, and an 82% audience score. On IMDb, it has a rating of 6.5 out of 10, based on 14,000 user reviews.

The film Dust Bunny draws comparisons to movies like Léon: The Professional because of its central pair, and to sci-fi/fantasy films such as Men in Black. In a review for Rogerebert.com, Matt Zoller Seitz rated it 3 out of 4 stars, noting that while it’s not a masterpiece, it suggests the director has the potential to make one.

The film Dust Bunny shows that movies can still find success on streaming platforms, becoming popular and gaining the recognition they deserve. With a talented cast and crew, Dust Bunny has all the makings of a beloved fantasy classic.
