Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 devs host Reddit Q&A that turns bloodier than the red wedding

Warhorse Studios, the creators of the Kingdom Come games, recently held a question-and-answer session on Reddit after replacing a human translator with AI. However, instead of asking questions, Redditors used the opportunity to express their disapproval of the decision and highlight the importance of human contributions.

I really love Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” sessions, but what I enjoy most is when an AMA goes hilariously wrong. It’s great to see Reddit users band together to playfully call out hosts who’ve said or done something questionable, and that’s exactly what’s happening now with the developers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. People are asking them some incredibly pointed – and funny – questions like…

Given the potential harm generative AI poses to creative professionals, like those in the gaming industry, what makes you support it?

“I always dreamt of working as a translator for warhorse studios, do you think I have a chance?”

“Why need creative directors, why not replace them with AI as you did with your translators.”

There’s even this one question, seemingly attempting to understand the developer’s decision.

I’m really curious to hear how these translations turned out and what everyone’s thinking about the quality. I’m guessing a lot of thought and research went into this decision, and it wasn’t just a quick choice!

Many people are asking, with frustration, why the company would hold a public Q&A session after making the decision to prioritize AI over its employees.

Someone really misjudged the situation by scheduling a Warhorse AMA on a Reddit community known for being critical of AI, especially right after Warhorse made headlines for replacing a human worker with AI. That AMA is going to go badly, and whoever suggested it will likely regret it.

So far, they’ve only let one translator go, but if we don’t address this issue immediately, it’s likely to become a much larger problem.

Following that, other playful Redditors started speculating about what Warhorse Studios would do next, comparing it to a classic Bond villain’s scheming.

“Are you guys making an open world LOTR game with Saudi money?”

And,

“Lmao people here get downvoted for asking legitimate questions instead of hating”

Which, I gotta admit, I kinda love. Lastly, there’s:

Now that the previous English translator is gone, will Gemini Premium be able to handle translating your next game?

That question currently has the most upvotes – 190 – but feel free to ask your own, even if it’s a particularly thoughtful one. You can still submit questions on the Warhorse Studios Reddit AMA page, and they’ve promised to answer them on April 30th, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
