Little Nightmares 3 continues the thrilling and spooky Little Nightmares series, blending platforming, puzzles, and horror. A major new feature is co-op gameplay, letting you play with a friend. Players have been especially intrigued by the character of Alone, particularly after the game’s ending, and many have wondered if he’s a genuine character. We’ll break down the truth about Alone here.
Is Alone a real character or just a conjuring of imagination in Little Nightmares 3?
I’m really excited about Little Nightmare 3 because you get to play as either Low or Alone, and it’s cool that they go through the levels together! They really seem to help each other out, which is awesome. But honestly, the ending kind of broke my heart – it turns out there’s a really sad backstory about Alone that I definitely didn’t see coming.

The story concludes with Low and Alone discovering a mirror that acts as a portal. Alone is hesitant to step through, but Low gently pulls her in. Unfortunately, the mirror rejects Low, throwing her out and causing it to break. Alone then collapses and transforms into a stuffed doll.
Despite Low’s efforts to fix the portal, the mission was always destined to fail – the mirror was broken on both sides. This implies that Low made it back to the real world, while Alone stayed trapped in the world of Little Nightmares. The reason for this is that Alone isn’t actually real; she was simply a figment of Low’s imagination.
Our review highlighted the game’s strong focus on loneliness. To cope with feeling alone in the scary world around him, the character Low imagined a companion named Alone. In the fourth chapter, called The Institute, players can see Low pick up a doll that looks a lot like Alone. This moment is a hint that Alone might be a creation of Low’s imagination, as picking up the doll leads to him being rescued by her. It’s a subtle way the game suggests Alone isn’t actually real.
