Battlefield 6 has had a very strong start, judging by its performance on Steam. During its launch weekend, the new multiplayer shooter from EA reached over 740,000 players at the same time. Even now, it’s maintaining a large and active player base, usually staying above 200,000 players at any given time.
Battlefield 6 is currently the most popular game in the series on Steam, with more players online than any previous installment. It’s been consistently among Steam’s top games all weekend and is also the best-selling title, even though it costs $70. This strong start suggests Battlefield 6 is the first truly successful game in the series for quite some time.
I’m hoping we’ll have a lot of players for BF6 this Sunday! Let’s try to break the record!

Even though Battlefield 6 had a strong start after launching over the holiday weekend, it didn’t quite reach its initial peak of over 747,000 players from October 10th. However, it still outperformed Call of Duty on Steam, exceeding its peak of around 492,000 players, and also surpassed popular games like Apex Legends and Helldivers 2.
The strong start for Battlefield 6 was expected, thanks to a successful early testing program called Battlefield Labs. This program allowed a select group of players to try the game and share their thoughts, creating buzz around its features. That excitement reached a peak when the developers officially revealed the game earlier this year, hinting at a return to the popular style of Battlefield 3 and 4, and a simpler, more focused experience after the difficulties faced with Battlefield 2042.
The recent open beta for Battlefield 6 in August generated a lot of excitement, attracting over 500,000 players on Steam. It reassured many that the game was a strong return to form for the series, which had faced some disappointments lately. Early reviews, like the one from TopMob, confirm this, describing the game as chaotic, large-scale, and incredibly fun multiplayer experience that stays true to what fans love about Battlefield.
Now, it’s just a matter of seeing if Battlefield 6 can keep up this positive excitement as we get closer to the release of competing games like Black Ops 7.
