In Just 1 Day, Returning 100% RT Animated Show Becomes Global Hit

A hugely popular animated series made a triumphant return this week. The first episode of its ninth season premiered on Sunday night and quickly broke records on Rotten Tomatoes. It also attracted a large audience within just a single day, proving the show’s continued success.

Season 9 of Rick and Morty has received a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated season of the show so far. The new season’s premiere is now available for digital purchase, and it’s boosted Rick and Morty to the top spot on Apple TV’s list of the Top 10 TV Shows. The Adult Swim series is also performing well on HBO Max, currently ranked at No. 2 globally behind Euphoria. It’s attracting a large audience in many countries, including Romania, Germany, and France.

Rick and Morty Will Be Around for a While

The popular show Rick and Morty is still going strong thanks to a huge deal made in 2018 for 70 new episodes. That agreement was originally meant to cover up to Season 10, with each season usually having 10 episodes. But recently, in 2024, Adult Swim ordered two more seasons, ensuring the show will continue at least through Season 12. Currently, fans can expect new episodes of Rick and Morty until around 2029, and if the show remains popular, it will likely be renewed for even more seasons.

The franchise has exciting things coming up! A first look was just released for President Curtis, a new show premiering in July. It will center around President Curtis (Keith David) and his team as they explore unusual paranormal occurrences. Think The X-Files, but with the humor of Rick and Morty. Expect to see some favorite characters pop up, potentially even Rick and Morty themselves!

A Rick and Morty Movie Is Also Happening

A new movie is also reportedly being developed. Jacob Hair is set to direct, though many details remain under wraps. It’s currently unknown whether the film will be shown in theaters – like the Simpsons and South Park movies – or released directly on streaming or TV. There’s no release date yet, and the project seems to be in the very beginning stages of production.

You can catch new episodes of Rick and Morty on Sundays at 11 PM on Adult Swim. If you miss an episode, or want to rewatch old favorites, they’re also available on HBO Max.
