Strong winds caused a massive inflatable World Cup soccer ball to come loose, and it bounced into traffic, turning the road into a real-life version of the video game Rocket League for unsuspecting drivers.
During a storm in San Salvador on June 14th, a giant inflatable replica of the 2026 World Cup official ball, called “La Trionda,” came untethered and floated away.
Reports say a large decorative ball broke free from its moorings at the Bambu shopping center and rolled out onto the street.
The massive ball rolling onto the road was a major danger for drivers, but one couldn’t resist bumping into it, making the situation feel like a real-life game of Rocket League.
Truck driver plays Rocket League IRL with massive World Cup ball
Video shows drivers reacting to a loose soccer ball by either slowing down or speeding up to avoid it. However, one truck driver appeared to recognize a unique chance and acted on it.
When the large ball came near, the driver surprisingly steered directly toward it, effectively ‘dribbling’ the massive La Trionda with their car – rolling it along the front and then bouncing it off the vehicle’s roof.
