The director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has hinted that we’ll be hearing more details about the third and last game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series very soon, which is great news for fans.
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is planned as a three-part series that retells the original game’s story. The first game covers the events in Midgar, and the second takes players from Kalm to the City of the Ancients. While the third game will likely finish the story, it’s hard to predict exactly what will happen because this remake takes place in a new timeline where things can change.
Fans have been eager for news about the next Final Fantasy 7 Remake game, and now there’s a positive update. Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, recently shared some information with ComicBook while talking about the game’s upcoming release on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.

Naoki Hamaguchi has indicated that fans won’t have to wait much longer for news about the third Final Fantasy 7 Remake game. He says an announcement is coming soon, and development is on track, meaning delays are unlikely.
Hamaguchi stated that development is progressing as planned. They’re confident the game will be a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy and understand fans are excited for its release. They’ve confirmed announcement preparations are ongoing and asked for a little more patience.
An announcement is coming shortly, and the game is still on track for its planned release, so we don’t expect any delays.
We’ll probably find out about the last part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake story during a Sony State of Play event or at the Summer Games Fest in June. Most likely, the game will be released in 2027 – a year that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy 7 and avoids clashing with the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
