Christopher Nolan’s new movie, an adaptation of The Odyssey, is generating a lot of excitement and is considered by many to be one of the year’s biggest releases. It’s being called Nolan’s most ambitious film to date, and now one of the stars has declared it a full-blown “masterpiece.”
I just read an interview with Tom Holland in GQ, and he’s seriously hyped about Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. He called it an “absolute masterpiece,” and said it’s unlike anything he’s ever seen – and he really emphasized that he’s not just saying that because he’s in it. Honestly, you always take those kinds of comments with a grain of salt, but he sounded genuinely blown away by the filmmaking. He even told Nolan he thought some of the sequences had to be CGI, they were so incredible! It sounds like Nolan has really outdone himself this time.
There were moments in the movie that really blew me away – I kept wondering how he’d even pulled them off without using computer graphics. After the film, I actually asked Nolan if certain scenes were definitely CG, and he insisted they weren’t – he’d achieved those effects entirely through careful planning and in-camera techniques.
Tom Holland first gained widespread recognition for his role in the 2012 film The Impossible, then became a household name as Spider-Man, starting with Captain America: Civil War. He’s continued that success with his own Spider-Man films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, he’s adding another impressive credit to his resume: The Odyssey. Holland describes working on the film as an incredible experience, calling it one of his proudest achievements. Matt Damon shares this feeling, suggesting the adaptation of Homer’s classic will be truly remarkable.
More to come.
