Asus unveiled new XR glasses at the Consumer Electronics Show. Created with Xreal, the Asus ROG Xreal R1 is lightweight and uses a simple USB-C connection to stream videos directly to your eyes.
As a gamer, I’m really excited about the tech inside the Asus ROG Xreal R1. It’s got super fast 240Hz micro-OLED lenses with a clear 1080p picture. Connecting it is easy – you can use HDMI or DisplayPort with the included ROG Control Dock, or even just a single USB-C cable if you have an ROG Ally! Asus claims it feels like you’re looking at a massive 171-inch screen from about four meters away, with a wide 57-degree view, and that the sweet spot for clear viewing is really big – covering 95% of the screen. It sounds incredibly immersive!
True to Asus’s style, these glasses feature the bold look of the Republic of Gamers line, complete with customizable RGB lighting. They’re incredibly lightweight at only 91 grams and include built-in Bose speakers for immersive audio. The lenses use special technology to automatically adjust to different light levels, or you can control the tint yourself. While the price isn’t available yet, Asus plans to release them in the first six months of 2026.
Asus made several big announcements at CES 2026, and ROG gaming laptop fans have a lot to look forward to this year. A significantly improved Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo is on the way, boasting dual 16-inch OLED HDR displays with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and it even includes a detachable wireless keyboard.
