PATCH HIGHLIGHTS:

NEW FREE STORY QUEST: BLACK TIDES

A new threat washes ashore!

So, I heard these super tough guys from the Templars – they call themselves “Black Cross” – are coming to Japan after me and Yasuke. Apparently, we’ve caused a bit of a stir! But knowing those Templars, it’s never just about what seems to be happening on the surface. They’re after something else here too, and it’s up to us to figure out what that is and stop them… if we can survive, that is.

Conditions for Black Tides

  • Complete Naoe & Yasuke’s main story
  • Complete “A Critical Encounter” post-launch quest
  • Complete “A Puzzlement” post-launch quest

NEW CROSSOVER PROJECTS: RIPTIDES & UNDERTOW

We’ve added two brand-new crossover events – Riptides and Undertow – to the Animus HUB! By playing them, you can earn exclusive rewards like themed outfits, weapons, trinkets, and other cool items.

You can unlock the new Projects by finishing Anomalies and earning rewards, just like you did with previous releases. Rewards are available for both Shadows and Black Flag Resynced, and you can earn them by completing Anomalies in either game.

Please note that these items won’t be available on the new Nintendo Switch 2 console because they include content from a game called Black Flag Resynced, and that game isn’t being released on Nintendo systems.

NEW END-GAME FEATURE: DOMAINS

Test your RPG character building abilities with a new Animus activity! You’ll face five different scenarios, each with ten increasing difficulty levels.

Unlock conditions: Reach level 30

MOD, a skilled hacker associated with the Assassin group, has developed innovative simulations called “Domains.” These simulations are meant to improve the fighting and survival abilities of Dark Animus users. Successful participants will be rewarded with a variety of new and updated cosmetic items, including outfits, weapons, accessories, and engravings.

As a player, I’ve noticed that cranking up the difficulty really throws curveballs at you! It adds all sorts of challenges that force you to switch up your usual team and gear. What worked perfectly in one level might totally fail in the next, so you have to adapt. Honestly, it’s a good kick in the pants to finally get around to upgrading those Mythic and Artifacts you’ve been meaning to do!

Okay, so in this game, there’s this MOD system that’s really cool. It’s basically a shop where you can spend in-game currency to get awesome new gear for when you’re at the highest levels. We’re talking full sets, powerful engravings to customize your build, and even a progression system to help you tackle the really tough challenges. The higher I go in difficulty, the more MOD rewards me with weapons and armor – some of it actually looks familiar to players who’ve been around for a while, which is a nice touch!

You’ll need everything you can get if you hope to conquer the toughest challenges and unlock exclusive rewards!

Just so you know: these items are special and can only be earned within the game itself. They won’t be available for purchase in the store or through trading with other players – they’re purely for showing off your accomplishments!

NEW ANIMUS RIFT: HORIZON

Another Rift has opened to reveal trouble stirring in its depths.

The Eagle has more information to share about the Guide.

Note: You must complete the two previous Animus Rifts to access the New one: Horizon.

ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

QUALITY OF LIFE HUB IMPROVEMENTS

Change to the access to Animus HUB features in the main menu.

To make things more consistent, we’ve streamlined how you get to HUB features. You used to find them in the main menu, but now they work the same way as when accessing them during gameplay. The System menu can now only be found within Shadows’ Memory.

BUG FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS

GAMEPLAY

  • Damage increase for “Shurikens” fired from the “Bank Shot” and “Triple Threat” tools mastery upgrade.[JF4.1]
  • All abilities that destroy enemy armor are now half as effective when used against bosses.
  • Fixed an issue preventing the “weak point attacks from making enemies vulnerable a second time” engraving from unlocking correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where Yasuke’s knowledge bonus that granted damage reduction against melee or ranged attacks had no effect.
  • Enemies now take fall damage from shorter heights, resulting in more overall fall damage.
  • Damage from “Poison Kunai” thrown by enemies is reduced.
  • Damage from “Explosive Grenades” thrown by enemies is reduced.[JF5.1]
  • Up to 6 “Corrupted Castles” are now available each season.
  • Fixed an issue with Naoe’s “Katana Sheath” being stuck to her.

UI

  • Forge engraving lists have been reordered, and a new “Critical Category” has been added.[JF6.1]
  • Fixed an issue where some perks are shown in the wrong forge category engraving list.
  • Fixed an issue where some perks and knowledge skills displayed the wrong icons.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Damage when Hitting Vulnerable Enemies” perk was missing from the stat sheet.
  • Naoe’s “Peasant Hat Headgear” perk now has extra text in the stat sheet clarifying it only triggers when below 1 adrenaline.[JF7.1]
  • Fixed an issue where Yasuke’s knowledge bonus “Damage with Combo Enders” showed a value 10 times higher than intended in the stat sheet.
  • Pins and world markers are now saved through travels in Japan and Awaji.

GEARS & PERKS

  • The following benefits have been adjusted to scale with your adrenaline, and their effects are now weaker overall.

    • Adrenaline Tools
    • Adrenaline on Headshot
    • Adrenaline on Critical Hit
    • Adrenaline over half health
    • Adrenaline under half health
    • Adrenaline on afflicted enemies
    • Adrenaline on posture attack
    • Adrenaline on vulnerable enemies
  • Perk present on “Whisper of Gold Long Katana” now increases ability damage by 100% (up from 50%).

  • We fixed a problem with Naoe’s “Kusarigama” ability where the “Affliction on Entangled Enemy” perk wasn’t dealing the correct amount of damage when it caused bleeding through entanglement.

  • Fixed an issue with “Blade of Yumminess” missing from inventory in some cases.

  • “Teppo” and “Bow” weapons can now be engraved with armour damage and armour piercing perks.

  • Fixed an issue where the “Arrownomics Bow” perk could be engraved on amulets.

  • Fixed an issue where the “Golden Chamber Teppo” perk could be engraved on amulets.

  • The special bonus on Naoe’s “Ethereal Cloth Headgear” now activates when her health drops below 15%, giving you more time to react (previously activated at 10%).

  • A bonus found on Naoe’s “Pink Petal Kosode Light Armour” and Yasuke’s “Sakura Bloom Armour” now restores 20% of your health when you would normally be defeated, an increase from the previous 10%.

  • We fixed a bug that was causing Yasuke’s “Riddle Scroll Beacon Trinket” ability to reset to its original settings.

  • Fixed an issue where “Consecutive Enemy Kills” perk would not reset when combat ended.

  • Fixed an issue where “Consecutive Enemy Kills” perk would reset upon being damaged.

  • Perks with the condition “with backstab” can now correctly only be engraved on “Tanto” weapons.

  • Weapon perks that only work with specific actions – like using long-range weapons, landing headshots, or staying still – can’t be added to melee weapons anymore, as they wouldn’t do anything on those types of weapons.

  • Benefits that require specific actions – like using close-combat weapons, maintaining a certain stance, finishing a combo, or hitting several enemies at once – can’t be added to long-range weapons anymore, as they wouldn’t work on those types of weapons.

  • We fixed a bug where certain perks that change how long harmful effects last, or give you adrenaline, weren’t working as expected on improved items. Engraving these perks on enhanced items now correctly increases their effects.

  • We fixed a bug that allowed the “Critical Change with Melee Weapons” perk to be applied to armor pieces when it should only have been available for helmets.
