A horse racing game character based on Gold Ship’s daughter is gaining popularity online, especially after her first race. Fans appreciate the connection to her famous father.
Jajamine is a white horse whose father, Gold Ship, was a famous Japanese racehorse celebrated for both his incredible racing success and his quirky, unpredictable nature.
Gold Ship was a successful racehorse, winning many major races, but he was also known for being unpredictable. His reluctance to run at full speed in one particular race famously cost bettors over 12 billion yen – about $83 million.
By 2026, it appears his daughter has inherited his talents, and fans of Umamusume are thrilled about it.
Gold Ship‘s daughter loses debut race
Jajamine ran her first race at Kyoto Racecourse on May 9th, but it didn’t go as planned. She finished near the back in 14th place out of 15 horses, seeming unsettled throughout the race. Footage before the race showed her acting playfully and shaking her head.
I was watching the race, and it sounds like Seina Imamura really had her work cut out for her with Jajamine! Apparently, she had to spend some time settling Jajamine down at the beginning, and for a while, Jajamine was just hanging around in the middle of the pack. Sadly, it sounds like she didn’t have enough left in the tank to really push through at the end.
After the race, Imamura explained that the horse was likely disoriented because everything was new to her. Despite being a strong-willed horse, she handled the situation well and finished the race nicely. Imamura is hopeful they can continue to progress together.
Although Jajamine didn’t perform well in the race, it quickly became a topic of online discussion because her actions reminded many people of her father’s well-known controversial behavior.
After videos and pictures from the race went viral, Japanese fans playfully commented that Jajamine seemed to have taken after Gold Ship’s famously unpredictable personality.
Fans were quick to point out the horse’s strong pedigree, with one commenting on its undeniable bloodline. Another joked that the horse seemed to be playing around quite a bit even before the race, explaining why it lost steam towards the finish. They suggested that if it continued that behavior during the race, it wouldn’t have the energy to last.
Fans also noticed Jajamine had a red ribbon on her tail – a common safety signal in horse racing indicating a horse might kick. This seemed especially fitting, as her father, Gold Ship, was also known for occasionally kicking.
Although Gold Ship’s daughter didn’t have the impressive first race her rider expected, it’s obvious she inherited her father’s talent and characteristics.
The Gold Ship character from Umamusume was a major attraction at the Golden Week event, offering six players the chance to win genuine 24-karat gold coins.
