Classic Digimon Game Finally Available in English May 15

It will be a while before the next major game comes out, but fans won’t have to wait completely dry. A previously unreleased English version of an older game in the series is coming soon thanks to a fan-made translation.

In 2025, Digimon: Time Stranger was released and is considered a major success for the series, particularly in gaming. It was a standout title that surpassed recent Pokémon games. While there won’t be a new main Digimon game in 2026, Digimon Alysion is coming soon – a mobile game based on the Digimon Card Game, and it’s potentially the franchise’s equivalent to Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket.

Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters Will Soon Be Available In English

Although many Digimon games and anime series have been released in English, not every version has been officially translated. One example is Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters for the Nintendo 3DS, which featured Appmon – Digimon based on smartphone apps that could combine with one another.

I’m so excited! Remember Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters? It came out in Japan back in December 2016, but sadly, it never made its way over here officially. With the 3DS being replaced by the Switch, it seemed like we’d never get to play it. But a fan named Geoqo on Twitter/X is changing that! They’ve announced a full English translation patch will be available on Friday, May 15, 2026! It’s amazing that fans are taking it upon themselves to bring these Appmon to the rest of the world.

Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters Can Tide Fans Over Until Time Stranger’s DLC

Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters has a visual style reminiscent of Pokémon games on the Nintendo 3DS, and anime fans should really enjoy it. Many players consider it one of the best Digimon games ever made, and now that it’s been translated into English, even more people can experience it.

Following the positive reception of Digimon Story: Time Stranger, more downloadable content is planned for release in 2027. There’s a good chance we’ll also see a sequel at some point.

It will likely be several years before a new Digimon game is released, so fans will have to enjoy older titles like Appli Monsters for now. While Appli Monsters wasn’t widely available, and an official English release would be great, this fan translation is a fantastic addition for those eager to play.
