Jujutsu Kaisen remains incredibly popular in the anime world, and the intense Culling Game arc is set to continue in the fourth season. Fans are already looking forward to what comes next, even if it’s years away. The most anticipated project is an anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the sequel manga which concluded on March 9, 2026.
Taking cues from the success of Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK), Modulo could significantly change how Studio Mappa creates anime, potentially improving what they already do well and fixing past mistakes. Fans are especially eager to see certain elements from Modulo adapted into the anime, like highly anticipated battles, character interactions, and impressive displays of power.
Yuji Itadori’s Comeback Scene Was as Epic as Expected
Early chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo showed that Yuji Itadori is still alive, creating excitement for his return. While it was a surprise to see him looking young despite being 83 years old, his incredible control over cursed energy wasn’t unexpected. He’s come a long way from barely being able to use Blood Convergence, and can now defeat large groups of both human and Simurian sorcerers with a single use of Piercing Blood.
Yuji attacks with several focused blasts that expertly bypass obstacles and hit multiple targets high up in a building. Blood sprays from every window, and Yuji casually wonders if he went too far, showcasing his increased power. This new Yuji is serious and doesn’t hold back, and the anime should demonstrate that change in his character.
Megumi Fushiguro’s Absence Needs to Be Addressed
Fans are frustrated that Megumi has been sidelined, especially after being developed as a key character. The announcement of JJK Modulo gave many hope he’d get the attention he deserved – even in an older, weakened state – but the sequel has largely ignored him.
In Chapter 25, Nobara mentions Megumi, saying she wishes he was there, which heavily suggests to fans (like those on Modulo) that he has died. The upcoming anime adaptation could honor Megumi by showing flashbacks of his history with Yuji and Nobara, and how the three of them developed their bond. This would be a fitting tribute to his character.
The Glorious Return of Cursed Spirit Rika
In the final battle of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, Marulu easily defeated Tsurugi, whose special ability couldn’t compete with the alien’s power. Fortunately, the Okkotsu family had anticipated this possibility, and Yuta passed down a ring containing Rika to his granddaughter, Yuka. However, the ring, filled with years of cursed energy, would have been more effective if wielded by someone like Tsurugi.
Unlike what happened with Yuta, when Rika merged with Tsurugi, it created a frightening creature that quickly defeated Maru. This scene is especially exciting because it includes Maki, and the combined form of Rika and Tsurugi uses the Soul Splitter katana. This makes the fight feel both new and reminiscent of the golden age of jujutsu, and it’s a must-see for fans of the Modulo anime.
Fans Want Even More Panda in the Modulo Anime
Panda, a beloved character from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, makes a return in JJK Modulo. He briefly appeared in the manga’s epilogue meeting Yuka and Tsurugi. Because Panda is a cursed corpse that can’t truly die, he was kept in storage by the Gojo clan for decades until the events of the 2086 sequel timeline. Unfortunately, the story didn’t feature nearly enough of him, which was disappointing to many fans.
Yuji brings Panda along when he meets Nobara, but Panda mostly gets overlooked. His main contribution is provoking a reaction from Nobara, who’s surprised to realize he’s actually aware and thinking. However, Panda does offer helpful advice about Yuji’s strategy with cursed energy, proving he’s not completely helpless. Giving Panda a more significant part in the Modulo anime would be a great addition.
Aoi Todo Is Only Namedropped in the Manga
Similar to Megumi, Todo is a key character in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. He’s a skilled and courageous sorcerer whose assistance was crucial in defeating Ryomen Sukuna. Even Sukuna, the King of Curses, recognized Todo’s power, calling him a true jujutsu sorcerer. Beyond that, the close connection between Todo and Yuji is a standout part of the anime.
Fans were really upset that Todo didn’t appear in the second season, even though it was established he was still alive in 2086. Many Jujutsu Kaisen viewers are eager to see an older Todo, imagining him still full of energy, because his personality likely wouldn’t change much over six decades. The author, Modolo, also hinted that Todo continues to be friends only with Yuji, which could be a storyline the anime explores – why Todo distanced himself from the rest of the jujutsu world.
Yuji Mocks Mahito for Being Weak While Dismantling Him
Watching the original fight end was really frustrating – Yuji just couldn’t finish off that cursed spirit, and it felt so unsatisfying. Thankfully, Modulo gave them a second chance to meet, though things were completely different this time around. It turns out Mahito had been waiting in the soul passageway for ages, but his excitement at seeing Yuji again quickly turned to dread when Yuji and Maru started talking about him like he was just something they could use.
This immediately enrages the villain, who confidently threatens to destroy Yuji with his powerful technique. Even though the villain’s power is increased by a connection to other souls, Yuji easily defeats both the villain and his technique. To add to the impact, Yuji even questions if the villain was always so weak.
Dabura’s Domain Expansion Needs to Be Expanded
The fan-made story, JJK Modulo, features a powerful alien character named Dabura Karaba who is comparable in strength to Sukuna, but possesses a kind nature that greatly contrasts with the King of Curses. During a battle with Mahoraga, Dabura demonstrated incredible skill and power, forcing the shikigami to repeatedly adjust its strategy. He wields a technique called Light, which creates devastating beams of energy, and unexpectedly unlocks another ability, Darkness, mid-fight.
The fight reached the point where Dabura was going to activate his Domain Expansion, ‘Otherworld Between Darkness and Light: Reverse Transcendence,’ but the battle ended before he could. Some viewers believe Mahoraga was defeated simply because Dabura moved the fight outside the area covered by the ritual. Either way, it was a letdown that such a powerful Domain Expansion – one comparable to Yami’s Malevolent Shrine – never got a full showing after building up so much anticipation.
Did Dabura Return to Earth in JJK Modulo’s Final Panel?
Dabura is a surprisingly gentle character, which makes his incredible power even more unsettling. However, Kyoko Tomoe didn’t react to him with fear when they first met. Instead, she was instantly charmed. A manga panel perfectly captures this, showing flowers blossoming behind them as Kyoko looks into Dabura’s eyes – a classic sign of attraction.
Dabura seemed to feel a connection as well, playfully breaking the doorway with his horn – a common trope for attraction in anime. Viewers hoped this would lead somewhere, but Dabura ultimately returned to his home planet to rescue his sister. Later, while Yuka and Kyoko discuss him, a strange sound is heard, leading fans to speculate about Dabura’s possible return. It’s a compelling cliffhanger in the manga that the anime still needs to address.
