10 Most Valuable Pokémon TCG Sets Right Now

Collecting Pokémon cards has become much more than just a hobby; it’s now a serious pursuit for many. Dedicated collectors actively hunt for the best prices on cards, packs, and special releases, hoping to complete a full set. However, this hobby can be quite costly. The most valuable items are often from the earliest sets, originally released in the late 1990s.

However, recent Pokémon card sets can be quite expensive, especially those from the Scarlet & Violet (March 2023-July 2025) and Mega Evolution (September 2025-Present) collections. While still accessible, these sets don’t reach the extreme prices of older ones like Evolving Skies (August 2021), which now sells for over $2,500 per Booster Box. To determine the cost of each set, we’ll be looking at the current market price of a Booster Box (containing 36 packs), or a Booster Bundle (6 packs) if a Booster Box isn’t available.

151 Doesn’t Have a Booster Box, But It’s Extremely Sought After

The Pokémon Trading Card Game’s 151 expansion is based on the original 151 Pokémon from the very first games, ranging from classics like Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur to legendary Pokémon like Mew and Mewtwo. This set has become incredibly popular, largely due to nostalgia for the first generation of Pokémon. Many cards also feature stunning artwork, especially the full-art versions like the highly sought-after Special Illustration Rare Charizard ex (199/165).

The 151 Pokémon set came out on September 22, 2023, meaning it’s still quite new – less than three years old. Despite its recent release, it’s already become a highly sought-after set from the 2020s. Unlike some other valuable sets, like the one released in January 2025 (currently priced around $78 for a Booster Bundle), 151 doesn’t come in a standard 36-pack Booster Box. Instead, you can buy it in smaller bundles: 6-pack Booster Bundles, 9-pack Elite Trainer Boxes, or 16-pack Ultra-Premium Collections.

The most affordable way to get cards from the 151 set is through the Booster Bundle, but it’s surprisingly expensive if you want a lot of cards. Currently, a bundle of six packs costs around $188. While it’s the cheapest per bundle, it only contains six packs, compared to the 36 packs you get in a standard Booster Box. To get the same amount of packs as a Booster Box, you’d need to buy six of the 151 Booster Bundles, which would end up costing over $1,100.

Perfect Order is the Newest Release, But Its Booster Box is Already Climbing the Charts

I’ve been keeping an eye on the newest Pokémon TCG set, and it just came out on March 27th, 2026, so it’s still pretty fresh. Honestly, the prices are already starting to climb! Right now, a Perfect Order Booster Box is going for around $208, but it’s been all over the place lately. It actually hit almost $250 for a bit there.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game set, Perfect Order, lives up to the quality expected from the Mega Evolution series and features a theme centered around Lumiose City. It’s a relatively small set with 88 cards, designed to provide strong, playable options and help even out decks built around Lumiose City. Despite its size, Perfect Order still includes highly sought-after cards with stunning artwork, and introduces new Mega Evolution Pokémon like Mega Starmie ex and Mega Clefable ex.

Surging Sparks is Still a Really Popular Pick Because of Some Iconic Chase Cards

I was so excited when the new set dropped on November 8th, 2024! Everyone’s been talking about it, and honestly, it’s the artwork that’s really grabbing people – especially those amazing Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares. This set, Surging Sparks, has some seriously sought-after cards, and the Pikachu ex (238/191) is definitely leading the charge. It’s become the Pikachu card to get right now, and it’s currently worth around $305!

This set also features highly sought-after cards like Latias ex (239/191), Milotic ex (237/191), and Alolan Exeggutor ex (242/191). Right now, a Surging Sparks Booster Box is selling for around $249. Given the number of valuable cards in the set, it’s a bit surprising the price isn’t higher, but $249 is still a good amount of money.

Paradox Rift Introduced New Ancient & Future Pokémon

As a Pokémon TCG fan, I was really excited for the Paradox Rift set, which came out on November 3rd, 2023! It’s packed with over 180 new cards, and the coolest part is that it brought in Ancient and Future Pokémon. There are also these awesome new Tera Pokémon ex cards that everyone’s trying to collect. I’ve been keeping an eye on prices, and a booster box is going for around $268 right now. It’s not the biggest price jump we’ve seen recently, but it’s still a pretty good set to get into!

As a collector, I’m really excited about the Ancient and Future cards in this set – Roaring Moon ex, Iron Valiant ex, and Professor Sada’s Vitality are at the top of my want list! But it’s not just those cards that are amazing. Cards like Mela (the special full art version!), Groudon (the Illustration Rare), and Gholdengo ex are also seriously cool. Honestly, the whole Paradox Rift set feels really varied and the artwork is just stunning. It’s a great set to collect!

Journey Together Has Slowly Increased In Value

The Scarlet & Violet expansion, Journey Together, came out on March 28, 2025 – just over a year ago. A unique feature of this set is its focus on the connection between Pokémon and their trainers. Throughout the cards, you’ll find Pokémon associated with characters like N, Lillie, Hop, and Iono. The most sought-after cards – including Special Arts, Pokémon ex, and Hyper Rare cards – often show the Pokémon with their trainer.

Right now, a Journey Together Booster Box costs around $286. It briefly peaked at just over $320, so while it’s not at its all-time high, it’s generally held its value – and even increased – since it was released. Other sets, like Destined Rivals, might do the trainer card feature better, but Journey Together is still…

Stellar Crown Debuted the Stellar Tera Pokémon ex

Stellar Crown is the latest expansion for the Scarlet & Violet Pokémon Trading Card Game, released on September 13, 2024. It’s known for introducing the Stellar Tera type, which is easily recognizable thanks to the cards’ striking crystalline designs and vibrant rainbow coloring. These cards are powerful, but using them requires careful strategy because their attacks are expensive to play.

The Stellar Tera art style has gained a lot of popularity in recent Pokémon TCG expansions, appearing in sets like Surging Sparks and Prismatic Evolutions. Because it’s so popular with collectors, the Stellar Crown set – which features this art style – is quite valuable. Currently, a booster box from Stellar Crown sells for around $308.

Phantasmal Flames is Another New-But-Valuable Set

Okay, so Phantasmal Flames was the first expansion to introduce Mega Evolution – it came out on November 14, 2025. It’s pretty cool because only two sets have been released since then: Ascended Heroes and Perfect Order (which we already talked about). Honestly, for being one of the newer sets, Phantasmal Flames has really held its value. Right now, you can sell a Booster Box for around $365, which is awesome!

The Phantasmal Flames Pokémon card set includes over 120 cards, with some rarer cards making the overall value of a full set (Booster Box) clearer. The set quickly became popular with collectors, especially when cards like Mega Charizard X ex and Mega Gengar ex were revealed. Given that Charizard and Gengar are iconic Pokémon from the original generation, it’s no surprise the set’s value increased rapidly.

Obsidian Flames Just Barely Edges Out Phantasmal Flames’ Value

The Obsidian Flames expansion for the Scarlet & Violet Pokémon trading card game launched on August 11, 2023, and includes over 190 collectible cards. This set features special Type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex cards, with a particular focus on Charizard ex. Because of the extensive marketing around Charizard and its evolutions, the set quickly became highly sought after by collectors.

Obsidian Flames booster boxes are currently worth around $374, only slightly more than the newer Phantasmal Flames set, which also includes a popular Charizard card. Despite some fans thinking Charizard is overhyped, the demand for these sets shows that collectors are still eager to find rare Charizard cards.

Paldea Evolved Shows a Huge Price Jump in Scarlet & Violet Booster Boxes

Most of the Pokémon card sets on this list have been consistently increasing in price, usually by $20 to $50 per set. However, the Scarlet & Violet – Paldea Evolved expansion is seeing a much bigger jump in value. A Booster Box from this set is currently worth around $450. Released on June 9, 2023, the set features over 190 collectible cards. As the second major expansion for Scarlet & Violet, it clearly captured collectors’ attention, which is reflected in its high price on the market.

As a collector, I was a little puzzled when the Paldea Evolved set came out. It really focuses on the Pokémon from the Paldea region – almost entirely Gen 9 stuff. Usually, the sets that become super valuable have a lot of Pokémon from the very first generations, like Gen 1. But honestly, the chase cards are what make this set special! There’s one card in particular that everyone’s after. It’s kind of funny, though – even in a set all about the newest Pokémon, the most valuable card ended up being a classic from Generation 1!

Destined Rivals is a Team Rocket Themed Expansion

The Scarlet & Violet expansion, Destined Rivals, is incredibly popular – so much so that it overshadowed the final expansion of the series, Black Bolt & White Flare. Collectors are eager to get their hands on this set because it’s entirely focused on Team Rocket, the iconic trainers and their powerful Pokémon. Team Rocket first appeared as villains in the original Pokémon Red and Green games back in 1996 and have been a favorite among fans ever since.

Released on May 30, 2025, the Pokémon card expansion Destined Rivals is already highly sought after. Less than a year after its release, a booster box from this set sells for close to $600. Popular cards include Cynthia’s Garchomp ex, Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex, and special artwork versions featuring Team Rocket’s Moltres ex, Nidoking ex, and Crobat ex.
