‘I Pictured Confetti Falling.’ Big Brother 27 Loser Talks Rude Awakening After Not Winning The Big Prize

Big Brother Season 27 has come to an end, and Ashley Hollis unexpectedly won the $750,000 grand prize. Her victory was a shock to many, as most people thought Morgan Pope would win after taking the first part of the Final Head of Household competition.

Although she played exceptionally well in the later stages of the game, Ashley ultimately won Part 2 of the Final Head of Household competition and then surprisingly defeated Morgan in the final challenge. Having complete control, she ended her alliance with a key player, brought Vince Panaro to the Final Two, and secured the win with a 6-1 vote. This outcome was unexpected by almost everyone, including Morgan, who admitted to GoldDerby that finishing in third place was difficult to accept:

It was a difficult day. I spent the whole day rehearsing my speech, getting ready for the Head of Household competition. I knew competing against Ashley would be challenging. While we were holding hands, I repeatedly thanked her. I had a strong feeling she would choose Vince. It was a mixed feeling – I had imagined a celebration with confetti, but instead I was leaving to applause and meeting Julie Chen Moonves. It was bittersweet, to say the least, and unexpected.

Having favored Morgan to win ever since the jury deliberations began, I understand why she feels that way. Ashley hadn’t won anything in a competition since the Week 1 Veto in Big Brother Season 27, so most people didn’t anticipate her pulling off those two important wins at the end.

Big Brother 27‘s Finale Crowned Its Big Winner, But I Agree With The Runner-Up’s Last Speech

This could explain the current tension between Morgan and Ashley now that Big Brother Season 27 has concluded. The winner has hinted in a few livestreams that things felt off between them after the show finished. You can find her complete statements below:

It’s also worth mentioning that Ashley revealed her parents asked her to change her Instagram post after she won. The original post made fun of Vince, the runner-up, for not having a job. She agreed and removed the part about him, as well as any mention of the four-time Head of Household, who hasn’t appeared in videos shared since the show finished.

Things might become more complicated as the playoffs continue. I think it’s likely Morgan and Ashley could cross paths again if they both end up on reality TV shows such as The Challenge or The Traitors. However, they might also resolve their differences quickly, as Ashley hopes, so it remains to be seen what will happen.

So, while we’re still reeling from the latest season, I’m already thinking about Big Brother Season 28 – casting is officially happening now! I’m really wondering what new surprises the producers have up their sleeves. I’m hoping they don’t bring back that Mastermind twist that led to Rachel Reilly’s shocking, vote-less eviction – that felt a little unfair and I don’t see it becoming a regular thing. Until next summer, I’ll be happily guessing what’s in store, but you can always expect the unexpected, right?
