Season 2 of Paradise has been full of unexpected events, and actress Julianne Nicholson says the revelation about Sinatra’s son in Episode 7 completely shifts the dynamic.
The first season of Paradise began with a shocking reveal: the entire show was taking place inside an underground bunker. It’s considered one of the biggest twists ever seen on TV.
The second season has introduced us to many new characters and surprising details, and Episode 7 gave Sinatra a particularly important spotlight.
This story involves her son, Dylan, who sadly passed away from an illness when he was young. Be warned – there’s a major reveal coming up, so spoilers are ahead.
Paradise star calls Sinatra surprise “a very big deal”

In the series Paradise, Julianne Nicholson portrays Samantha Redmond, nicknamed ‘Sinatra’. In the seventh episode of the second season, she comes face-to-face with Link (Thomas Doherty). Their meeting on Air Force One is fraught with tension, but ultimately they disagree and go their separate ways.
As Link prepares to leave, a crew member calls him Dylan, making Sinatra wonder if he could be her deceased son. She asks for his birthday, and when he replies with “May 16th,” she realizes with certainty that Link is indeed her son.
On the Paradise podcast, Nicholson explained why the scene resonates with him. He said it’s deeply affecting because of the enduring grief Sinatra feels over the loss of her son, and that sadness seems to shape everything about her performance. He finds that heartbreak particularly powerful.
It’s clear in that moment that Sinatra is already captivated by this person. Despite the awkwardness when he mentions Alex, he seems completely charmed.
Initially, I think she’s wary of him, wondering what his intentions are. But she quickly becomes impressed by the number of people he leads and the fact that he’s managed to survive on his own. I found that potential dynamic really touching and sad, and it felt like a significant development in the story.
Filming that scene was incredibly emotional for me. Looking at Thomas and remembering the young actor who played Dylan, and imagining where he is now, was really powerful. I feel fortunate to have played this character throughout the entire story – she’s a very complex and interesting person.
Honestly, hearing that really hit me. Apparently, this has been something my character’s secretly hoped for forever – just a small chance she dreamed about. And now, after all this time, it might actually be happening? It’s totally wild!
Julianne Nicholson says twist lends humanity to character

Frank Sinatra always appeared to be completely aware of what was happening, and Jack Nicholson enjoyed acting in a scene where his character was genuinely surprised by something.
The actor described a scene as truly beautiful, explaining that the character was initially all about maintaining control, especially after the loss of her son. She was determined to prevent any further harm to her family. However, the scene highlighted the fact that, despite wealth or power, some things are simply beyond our control, and life inevitably throws unexpected events our way.
It’s wonderful to watch her realize who someone actually is. I think it makes her character more interesting and relatable to see her still capable of being surprised. It was a really sweet scene.
