What happens in Paradise Season 2 Episode 7?

Paradise Season 2, Episode 7 jumps between the past and present. We see Cal and Redmond exploring the bunker and talking about safety in flashbacks. Meanwhile, in the present day, Xavier and Teri are trying to resolve the issues with Gary, Redmond has a meeting with Link, and Gaby is dealing with problems involving Jane.

The episode begins with a flashback to six years in the past, showing Cal’s initial exploration of the bunker. He asks the person who built it lots of questions and quickly figures out how everything functions, all set to the tune of Europe’s 1980s hit, ‘The Final Countdown.’

Okay, I was SO happy to see Xavier and Teri back together! But then things got complicated with Gary showing up and basically begging Teri to come back, saying he has ‘Bean.’ It’s a really tough situation, and I’m on the edge of my seat to see what happens next!

Xavier is ready to confront Gary, but Teri prefers a calmer solution. She meets with her old friend and attempts to talk him down.

He tells Teri she’s essential – that neither the place nor he himself can function without her. However, Teri is firm in her decision to leave with Bean, urging him to begin a new chapter. Gary eventually accepts this, and Teri, Xavier, and Bean leave on a train bound for Colorado.

The episode opens with Redmond struggling with grief over her son Dylan’s death, confiding in her husband that she’s still processing it. However, she manages to compose herself and proceeds to a meeting with Link aboard Air Force One.

As Link enjoyed the apple pie he’d asked for, he mentioned his crew numbers around 10,000 people and that they need a nuclear reactor to help rebuild the world. Redmond pressed him on his true intentions, and Link simply replied, “I’m here for Alex.”

Their meeting ends suddenly, but not before she discovers Link’s true name is Dylan and that his birthday is May 16th. She then experiences a nosebleed, and it’s clear something has shifted for Redmond, who returns home and is intimate with her husband.

While Cal inspects the facility and questions its defenses against air attacks, fires, and sieges, his son, Jeremy, is shown trying to restore air flow to open the bunker doors. These two scenes happen at the same time, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

While Cal reflects on the decline of past empires, the issues he’s been questioning start to unfold, coinciding with a violent confrontation where Jane attempts to kill Gaby, but Gaby defends herself by stabbing Jane.

With the siege happening and the bunker’s systems failing, the movie ends with Redmond walking into an off-limits area. He puts on a coat, smiles, and says, “Hi Alex,” to something or someone the audience can’t see.
