Prime Video’s Spider-Noir Will Finally Adapt an Iconic Romance

The new Prime Video series is taking a fresh approach to live-action Spider-Man stories. It features Nicolas Cage playing Ben Reilly, a detective in a dark and realistic version of New York City. The series is inspired by Cage’s character from the animated Spider-Verse movies, but set in a separate timeline.

The upcoming Spider-Noir series intends to introduce several well-known villains into live-action for the very first time, including characters like Sandman, Man-Spider, and Molten Man. But one of the most interesting additions is receiving little attention, even though it could lead to a fantastic story inspired by the comic books.

Spider-Noir May Adapt Spider-Man and Black Cat’s Iconic Romance

The upcoming series will include Spider-Noir. Li Jun Li, known for her role in ABC’s Quantico, will play the iconic Marvel character. This is Felicia Hardy’s first live-action appearance since Felicity Jones played her in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 back in 2014.

We don’t yet know what Felicia Hardy’s character will be like in the first season of Spider-Noir. But with her introduction, Marvel has a great opportunity to finally bring the classic Black Cat and Spider-Man romance from the comics to life. This relationship hasn’t been shown in live-action before, and it could be a really good fit for the tone of Spider-Noir.

A big reason Black Cat hasn’t appeared in a live-action movie yet is that her relationship with Spider-Man is too complex for a typical two-hour film. It’s a complicated dynamic, and a longer format like a multi-episode TV series would be better suited to explore all the nuances of their connection, as seen in the comics.

Exploring a romance between Spider-Noir and Black Cat would be a fresh direction for Spider-Man’s on-screen relationships. Unlike Peter Parker’s usual love interests, Black Cat is drawn to Spider-Man’s heroic side rather than Peter Parker himself. This flips the dynamic seen with characters like Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy. Because of this, it feels natural that Spider-Noir would be attracted to Black Cat in the new series.

It’s Time for Black Cat to Get the Respect She Deserves

Even if Felicia Hardy doesn’t end up with Ben Reilly in the new series, she’s a great character who deserves more screen time. Black Cat is a well-known part of Spider-Man’s world, but she hasn’t been featured much in live-action movies or TV shows.

Before appearing in Spider-Noir, Felicia Hardy (Black Cat) only appeared briefly in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. That appearance seemed to hint at a larger role in a potential sequel, but those plans were scrapped when a new Spider-Man series began as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a result, Felicia Hardy has never been fully portrayed as the Black Cat in any live-action movie or show, meaning the character remains largely undeveloped.

As a huge movie fan, I’m really excited about Spider-Noir because it feels like a perfect chance to finally give Black Cat the attention she deserves. She’s such a fascinating character – complex, morally grey, and she gets Spider-Man on a level few others do. She’s easily one of Marvel’s best antiheroes. While the show’s noir aesthetic should give us a great take on Felicia Hardy, I have a feeling it’ll also deliver the best live-action version of her we’ve seen yet.

Fans are hoping Felicia Hardy, also known as Black Cat, will have a much bigger part in Spider-Noir than she did in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While rumors persist about other appearances, it’s more likely we’ll see a more developed version of the character in the upcoming Spider-Man series on Prime Video. People are eager to see this cat burglar turned crime fighter come to life on screen.

Marvel comic book fans have a lot to look forward to with Felicia Hardy (Black Cat) joining the cast of Spider-Noir. Her appearance not only gives the character a spotlight, but could also pave the way for a live-action version of her popular romance with Spider-Man. With this exciting addition, Spider-Noir is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated superhero shows of 2026, giving Spider-Man fans even more reason to watch when it premieres in May.

Spider-Noir premieres on May 25, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
