The conflict between the Targaryen families is now fully underway. While we saw a glimpse of dragon warfare in season two, the new trailer for the second-to-last season of House of the Dragon heavily features what appears to be the massive Battle of the Gullet. The trailer picks up shortly after Alicent and Rhaenyra’s secret meeting, with Rhaenyra informing her advisors that Alicent plans to surrender and open the gates of King’s Landing. However, Rhaenyra’s son, Jace, is skeptical and warns against trusting Alicent, and is later shown heading into battle.
The next season arrives this June, perfectly timed with Pride Month, which is fantastic news for fans of Rhaenyra and Alicent – arguably the best couple in the world of Game of Thrones. (While Knight of the Seven Kingdoms offered some contenders, these two queens are simply unmatched.) The big questions now are: who trapped Rhaenyra in that room, and will she and Mysaria ever talk about it? Could Alicent become involved? And what about a potential connection between Gwayne Hightower and Ser Criston Cole? Finally, everyone’s noticed Daemon consistently refers to Rhaenyra as “Queen” in the trailer – and rightfully so!
