This week on Rich Women Doing Things, the ladies continued their lavish lifestyles. They hosted a party with a nurse providing vitamin drips and injections to keep them feeling their best. They spoiled their sixteen-year-old daughter with a Maserati, complete with a giant bow. The women also toured potential wedding venues for their daughter, which featured quirky details like alpacas with mohawks. To top it off, they endured lengthy stories from their soon-to-be ex-husbands, who dream of becoming DJs under the name Mo-Mentum, and found themselves laughing uncontrollably.
The highlight of the week was definitely the birthday dinner, even though it turned into a bit of a showdown between the women. Honestly, it was one of the most entertaining dinners we’ve had in ages! It was so dramatic that Jen Tilly actually moved closer to the center of the action, like she was watching her favorite reality show—which, in a way, she was. It really felt like we were filming an episode of Rich Women Doing Things.
The argument began with Amanda and Dorit, with Amanda claiming she was verbally attacked. She awkwardly looked up the definition of “accosted” on Google Gemini and read it aloud – it felt forced and unnatural. The moment was met with eye rolls from everyone, and Amanda seemed shocked by their reaction. It was a strange and unnecessary explanation, like someone dramatically presenting a top hat and then asking if you like their underwear, followed by a definition of the word ‘underwear’.
Amanda admitted she was just repeating Kyle’s words, but she initially presented them as her own thoughts, which sparked a conflict between Kyle and Dorit. They argued over whether Kyle genuinely cares about Dorit’s well-being. It seems both of them have a point, but are also mistaken. Kyle isn’t bothered by Dorit speaking negatively about PK, but she’s concerned Dorit is doing so publicly on the show. I think Kyle’s reaction is problematic. The show would benefit from the women being more honest and open about all aspects of their lives, but Kyle wants Dorit to be protective and stay silent. While I agree with Boz that Kyle has good intentions, Dorit is entitled to her feelings and can be upset with her ex if she chooses, and Kyle can’t force her to listen to advice.
Dorit might not have been wise to discuss her personal life so openly on camera, but ultimately it’s her choice how she handles things. She’s also correct that Kyle, as a friend, should be there for her. Dorit feels she needs to share what’s happening in her life, and her friends – particularly Boz and Rachel – seem to agree that they should provide a supportive environment for her to do so.
I’ve noticed something interesting about Kyle and Dorit’s arguments. Kyle often emphasizes certain words, like repeating ‘remember’ in a drawn-out way, and the show’s editors amplify it with a lot of effects – it’s so overdone it feels like a trip! Dorit then mirrors this, repeating the same word with the same strange audio treatment, almost like a dramatic sound effect.
The tension between Dorit and Kyle has reached a breaking point. Dorit admitted she’s tired of pretending to be friends with Kyle, explaining she doesn’t trust or feel respected by her, and feels talked down to. This came to a head when Kyle criticized Dorit for being overly talkative, which Dorit dismissed as a repetitive and unoriginal insult. Dorit responded by pointedly refusing to engage, physically silencing herself. Kyle then told her to act her age, but honestly, both women were behaving immaturely. It seems like the fallout from Lisa Vanderpump’s departure has permanently damaged the original friend group, leaving them unwilling to communicate with each other.
Following their argument, Amanda explained she disliked Dorit’s confrontational communication style, regardless of the sensitive timing – it was the anniversary of her son’s death. She felt Dorit should have approached the conversation with curiosity, asking questions to understand Amanda’s perspective instead of immediately becoming aggressive. While Dorit did ask where Amanda’s opinion came from, Amanda felt the questioning was accusatory. She believes Dorit should have simply asked to hear more about her thoughts. Ultimately, Amanda felt Dorit wasn’t interested in understanding her, but rather wanted her to stay silent.
Boz is exactly who should be dealing with Amanda. She instantly recognizes Amanda’s dishonesty and is the only one present who’s built a lot of wealth – something Amanda wants for herself. Boz tells Amanda she can’t expect everyone to agree with her or communicate in a way she likes. After one of Amanda’s overly idealistic statements, Boz simply says a drawn-out, emphatic “Girl!” She then adds that Amanda’s expectation of avoiding any uncomfortable disagreements is unrealistic and that she needs to accept that. Amanda argues that disagreements don’t have to be confrontational, and people can talk and try to understand each other. Boz, speaking for everyone, responds by asking if Amanda has never encountered someone with truly awful opinions – like a difficult relative at Thanksgiving – and questions whether Amanda’s view is even based in reality.
I believe this situation really shows Amanda’s typical experience. She’s accustomed to being looked up to – people usually listen to her, take her advice, and admire her. Now, being in a group that doesn’t respond to her in that way, she’s struggling to connect with people who have different opinions and don’t value her suggestions.
Amanda shared that she’d never been reduced to tears at a dinner party until the night before, and then Dorit unexpectedly brought up her past involvement with a cult. Even Erika seemed shocked by this. Summer, the most down-to-earth person present, tried to explain that Dorit likely just meant she’d had difficult experiences, but Amanda believes Dorit was deliberately trying to undermine her with unfair tactics. Later, while hiking with Kyle, Kyle questioned what Dorit hoped to achieve with the revelation. This felt hypocritical, considering Kyle once brought in her sister Kim and Brandi Glanville to publicly accuse Denise Richards of being unfaithful and having a same-sex relationship. Now, Kyle is acting superior and advising others not to overshare on the show? It’s a confusing double standard.
The dinner took a surprising turn when Rachel Zoe became visibly upset. She’d filed for divorce earlier that day and reacted strongly to Kyle yelling at Dorit. Rachel explained that she feels pressured to always be strong for others, but admits she sometimes struggles herself, and believes Kyle is criticizing Dorit for showing vulnerability. While Rachel makes a fair point, it seems Kyle is actually upset that Dorit broke down on camera in a way that could create problems for her public image. Regardless, Rachel doesn’t want to be judged, which is a tall order given she’s on a reality show known for its drama. Honestly, if she’s looking for a judgment-free environment, she might be better off exploring other activities – like a silent retreat, a local theater production, or even something completely different than being on The Real Housewives.
Rachel stepped outside to cry, and Boz and Dorit went to be with her. Just then, the cakes Kyle had brought – candles already lit – were brought out. Jen Tilly pointed out that one of the birthday girls was missing, but Kyle insisted they proceed, eager to finish dinner and leave. The group’s attempt at singing “Happy Birthday” was lackluster, to say the least. Everyone left feeling downcast, retreating to their own spaces. Erika Jayne, however, remained at the table, looking stunning in a ‘90s outfit with incredible hair, despite the disastrous birthday atmosphere. She felt out of place with the other women, especially while looking her best. She stared at her cake, watching the wax drip from the candles, and deliberately extinguished each flame with her fingers. Finally, she requested an Uber and left. It was a terrible birthday, and she didn’t even get to enjoy a piece of cake.
