While she’s against remakes in general, if one had to happen, she’d prefer a filmmaker to be inspired by the spirit of films like The Breakfast Club and create something new that reflects modern issues, rather than simply copying the original. She feels a new take would be better than a direct recreation of a film from a different era. Interestingly, she notes that Miracle on 34th Street, which Hughes adapted, is technically a reimagining of an older story, potentially making it the only film of his that could be remade.
