Following the excitement surrounding the recent Stranger Things event, executive producer and director Shawn Levy has called the final episode a “masterpiece.” The eighth and final chapter of Season 5, titled ‘The Rightside Up,’ will be available on Netflix later today, bringing an end to the hugely popular series that brought a Stephen King-like atmosphere to a new audience.
In an interview with PEOPLE before the final episode aired, Josh Levy, fresh off filming Star Wars: Starfighter, said fans of Stranger Things will learn much more about Henry Creel and Vecna as the story concludes. The 125-minute finale, titled ‘The Rightside Up,’ also delivers resolutions that are both rewarding and unexpected.

Vecna’s Real Plan For ‘Stranger Things’ Finale

Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna, recently discussed his character’s motivations as Stranger Things heads toward its finale. In an interview with Screen Rant, Bower, 37, explained that Vecna believes he’s fulfilling a divine purpose, a plan that started with Will Byers’ disappearance in Season 1.
He wants to completely destroy the world and rebuild it according to his vision. He hinted at this in Season 4, Episode 7, telling Eleven they could ‘remake the world, reshape it however we see fit.’ Now, he has the opportunity to tear everything down and start over.
Jamie Campbell Bower shared that Vecna’s new appearance is a result of the damage he sustained in his previous battles with the Hawkins kids. He described the look as being somewhat inspired by the original Hellraiser, but different, explaining that after Nancy Wheeler severely wounded him, he essentially rebuilt his body to be stronger and more intimidating.
As you’ll recall from the end of Season 4, Vecna fell and was nearly burned alive. His current appearance is likely a result of those injuries, as well as the time he’s spent outside of the human world.
Throughout this experience, he’s grown increasingly bitter and unpleasant, especially considering the difficult circumstances he found himself in.
The actor described creating Vecna’s frightening voice as a stressful process initially, but he was eventually able to overcome that challenge.
When you get tense, your throat closes up, making it hard to speak. But when you relax, your throat opens, allowing you to breathe more easily and feel more grounded. That’s when your voice starts to come through.
I have to give Doug Bradley, as Pinhead, the credit for inspiring my approach. Seeing his performance, I knew that’s where I wanted to start. I really wanted to build from that foundation and pour all my own feelings and experiences – even the tough ones – into the character.
Pinhead is the leader of the Cenobites, the terrifying creatures from the Hellraiser series of movies. He’s also known as the Hell Priest.
