The latest update to Megabonks is here, introducing a new character named Roberto, several new bosses, a fresh map, and lots of challenges. However, many players feel the game is now too difficult.

Megabonk, a game similar to Vampire Survivors, is notoriously difficult. Success requires a strong character, powerful weapons and items, helpful tomes, and a good amount of player skill. While already challenging, the recent Spooky Update has made things even harder, and players are expressing their frustration.

Megabonk fans call out games’ increased difficulty

To get Roberto, you’ll first need to beat two tough opponents, Big Bob and Spooky Steve. After that, you’ll have to unlock several items by finishing levels very quickly – in under 16 seconds.

Many fans are voicing their disappointment online. One player wrote that the new challenges aren’t enjoyable and they’re worried about the game’s future. They feel the challenges are too difficult to complete, making them not even want to bother trying.

Some players even said they would stop playing the game if it didn’t change, with one stating, “If Megabonk continues with this intense style, I’ll quit playing altogether.”

Many players shared similar frustrations with these challenges, feeling they weren’t worth the effort despite the valuable rewards. One player expressed a common sentiment: “The final reward is great, but the process of getting it is incredibly frustrating. It requires a lot of skill, luck, and multiple attempts, which doesn’t make for a fun or fair experience.”

Players expressed frustration with a particular boss, nicknamed “Spooky Steve,” calling him uninspired and repetitive. Many suggested he would be better as a hidden boss unlocked through gameplay, rather than a difficult enemy with infinite health who instantly defeats players in a confined space.

Even so, many players actually enjoy the difficulty. Some said they find both succeeding and failing to be entertaining, but would appreciate a bit more leniency. Others agreed, stating that it’s okay for the challenges to be hard and not everyone should be able to achieve everything quickly, especially since the update is only a few days old.

The new update brought lots of fresh content and features, but players are finding the main challenge surprisingly difficult, regardless of whether they’re enjoying the game or not.
