For more than ten years, she’s built a following online creating videos and live streams. Now, she’s bringing her cooking skills to a new audience on reality television.

MasterChef posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing Gordon Ramsay asking contestant iGumdrop about her life outside of cooking.

Jamie was threading seasoned wagyu onto a kebab skewer when she told Ramsay she was determined to make Malaysian cuisine more well-known.

“I love that,” he complimented her, going on to call her social media following “incredible.”

She explained she wasn’t interested in gaining popularity, but in demonstrating her skills. She wanted to show everyone that her cooking was delicious.

“This smells amazing,” Ramsay said. “Do not overcook that wagyu.”

I’m seriously on the edge of my seat wondering if Jaime, the food influencer, can impress the judges enough to get a white apron on MasterChef! It’s so exciting! đź‘€

iGumdrop scores coveted white apron in MasterChef Global Gauntlet

MasterChef Global Gauntlet begins like a World Cup tournament, with eight home cooks trying out in each region. They cook dishes that represent their cultural background, and only five will receive a white apron, allowing them to continue on the show.

Each season features four regions competing against each other. This year, teams from the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific are battling it out for a $250,000 prize.

iGumdrop earned a spot on team Asia-Pacific – symbolized by a white apron – thanks to her talent in the kitchen. She credits her father’s home cooking, specifically Malaysian street food, as a major inspiration. Her dream is to one day open a food truck with him.

Jamie’s wagyu beef satay, served with peanut sauce and coconut rice, was a standout dish. Tiffany Derry admired the presentation, while Gordon Ramsay described it as both authentic and delicious.

You can watch this season of MasterChef: Global Gauntlet on Hulu.
