A woman from California is getting a lot of attention online after taking a unique approach to finding a partner. She rented twelve billboards along Highway 101 and even created a website dedicated to the search for her future husband. It’s certainly a memorable way to meet someone!
Lisa Catalano, 42, of San Mateo, launched an advertising campaign on September 2nd after unsuccessful relationships and frustrating experiences with dating apps. The billboards cover a 45-mile stretch between Santa Clara and San Francisco, guiding drivers to her website.
“I’m really making an effort to meet someone,” Catalano explained to the New York Post. “This isn’t something I’m doing for fun, or as a publicity stunt. I’m fully investing my own money into this, and I’m serious about finding a husband.”
Billboards, taxis, and a dating site
Catalano, a seller of vintage clothes, stated she preferred not to reveal how much the campaign cost. However, she did mention she’s also funding advertisements on taxis. The price of billboard advertising changes based on factors like time, location, and how much demand there is.
Her website provides information about her life, what’s important to her (her “non-negotiables”), and a way for interested people to apply as potential partners. Catalano is seeking a man aged 35 to 45 who aligns with her religious and political views, prioritizes a healthy lifestyle, and desires a monogamous relationship.
Recently, other people looking for love have tried similar attention-grabbing tactics. For example, Eve Tilley-Coulson, a lawyer from Los Angeles, once offered a $5,000 “referral fee” to anyone who could set her up with a partner. Meanwhile, Mohamed Ibrahim of New Jersey even rented billboard space in Times Square to advertise himself and his search.
Catalano is still hopeful about finding love. “I’m looking for a relationship, and I dream of getting married and having a family,” she shared with the Post. “There has to be someone for me out there.”
