Now that season two of Wednesday has finished airing, we have some great news about the show’s future! The role of Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s sister, has finally been cast. Even more excitingly, the actress chosen is someone who frequently works with director Tim Burton, which proves my earlier guess about Wednesday’s aunt was incorrect.
Following the shocking Season 2 finale of Wednesday, Netflix announced that Eva Green will play Aunt Ophelia. The episode revealed Ophelia had survived and was being hidden in Grandmama’s basement. Green is a frequent collaborator with Tim Burton, having starred in films like Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Dumbo, and Dark Shadows. This makes her an ideal addition to the show’s uniquely dark and atmospheric cast.

This discovery is exciting, but it unfortunately disproves a theory I had. When Season 2 was released last year, many of us wondered if Lady Gaga’s character, Rosalyn Rottwood, might actually be Wednesday Addams’ long-lost Aunt Ophelia. It seemed plausible at the time, but now we know that isn’t the case.
The rumors can now be put to rest: Eva Green will be playing Ophelia Frump in the third season of Wednesday.
