The accident occurred on June 12th while bin Antar was climbing in the Haradhat Damt crater. According to local news, he slipped and fell inside, and rescue teams later recovered his body.

Civil Defense teams in Yemen recovered the body of bin Antar on Saturday, a day after he fell into a volcanic crater in Al Dhale. The rescue operation was challenging and required specialized diving and water rescue teams, along with lighting equipment, according to reports from Yemen Monitor and Yemen Online.

Rescuers faced significant difficulties at the location, with steep, rocky ground, few ways to reach the area, and dangerous conditions within the crater itself. It took almost a full day, nearly 24 hours, to recover his body.
