Makoto Yukimura is a celebrated author, most famous for his popular manga series Vinland Saga. The story centers on a young boy navigating a world of conflict, seeking revenge, and ultimately finding his path to redemption, and showcases Yukimura’s talent for powerful and realistic storytelling.

Although Vinland Saga is considered a masterpiece, it’s a pretty intense series. To show a different side of himself, creator Yukimura has been sharing glimpses of his relaxing Minecraft gameplay with fans.

The well-known manga artist recently revealed that he and his wife took up Minecraft as a relaxing bedtime activity. Surprisingly, it hasn’t been very relaxing at all! They’ve struggled with motion sickness, getting disoriented, and finding the game difficult to learn, leaving them feeling stressed instead of soothed.

My wife and I recently started playing Minecraft before bed, but we’re struggling with motion sickness while we play. Neither of us are gamers, so we’re not very good yet, according to Yukimura.

Yukimura says his son is now teaching him and his wife the ropes in Minecraft, covering everything from trading and building to adding magical enhancements. He jokingly explained that in the game, their sons have become the experts and they are the ones needing guidance.

Yukimura has noticed a funny pattern during their family’s Minecraft games: they’ve switched roles with their kids. Now, Yukimura takes on the role of follower, simply doing what they’re told, while their kids expertly manage the complicated parts of the game and make all the progress.

Yukimura is just as baffled and frightened by a building his son created as he is by the zombies themselves, describing it as filled with the sounds of “tons of groaning zombies… it’s scary.”

The posts quickly became popular online, as fans loved seeing a positive and personal side of the Vinland Saga creator.

One person commented that it was heartwarming to hear the son became a teacher and that the family enjoys playing Minecraft together. Another commenter jokingly pointed out that, according to established fan knowledge, the character Yukimura also plays Minecraft.
