Nadji Jeter, who voices Miles Morales in the Spider-Man games, mentioned that Insomniac Games had started developing a Venom spin-off, but it was eventually cancelled. However, well-known journalist Jason Schreier has questioned whether this is true.
In Spider-Man 2, Venom was a major character, but with a twist: the symbiote bonded with Harry Osborn, not Eddie Brock. Players could even control Venom for a short time, leading many to believe he’d be back in future games.
So, I was listening to the Love it Film podcast, and apparently, they were talking about a Venom game that was actually in development! The actor who plays Miles Morales – that’s me in the Spider-Man games and the sequel – heard that work had started on it. But sadly, it got cancelled after Tony Todd, the voice of Venom, passed away earlier this year. It’s a real shame, I was excited to see what they’d do with a solo Venom title.
We had plans for a Venom video game, including both a full game release and downloadable content. Unfortunately, we lost Tony Todd, which derailed those plans. I was shown the planned beginning of the game and the overall vision for how it would unfold.
Venom game futures in doubt following conflicting reports
Despite recent doubts, there’s still a possibility of a standalone Venom movie. Jason Schreier of Bloomberg doesn’t share the same pessimistic view as actor Nadji Jeter.
Responding on a ResetEra thread, the trusted journalist simply wrote: “This isn’t true.”

This just makes things more confusing because it’s unclear exactly what Jeter got wrong. It’s possible a Venom game was never planned at all, or that reports of its cancellation were inaccurate and the game is still in development at Insomniac.
There’s also a chance the game was cancelled for reasons unrelated to Tony Todd’s passing. However, based on this limited information, it’s impossible to know what actually happened.
Fans are eager for a more substantial experience with Venom, and we expect either Jason Schreier or Insomniac Games to provide more details about its future soon.
This news follows a recent leak about Spider-Man 3 – the actor who portrays Peter Parker accidentally revealed details, confirming that the next major game in the series is in development.
