A highlight of Cillian Murphy’s awards season was Margot Robbie playfully urging him to make another Peaky Blinders film during their interview last year. Although Murphy initially felt the show had a satisfying conclusion after six seasons, the show’s creator, Steven Knight, convinced him to return for a movie continuing the story. Now, with the first trailer released ahead of its March debut, everyone is wondering: where’s Tommy Shelby now? And how much time has passed since the series began? It seems reasonable to expect a Peaky Blinders movie trailer to feature more than just one familiar member of the Shelby family.

Generally, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man feels like typical Peaky Blinders: Tommy Shelby, despite wanting to leave his criminal past behind, is pulled back into trouble in Birmingham. He’s the only one who can resolve it using his intelligence and willingness to use force. The show has a history of casting well-known actors as villains—think Paddy Considine, Sam Neill, Adrien Brody, and Anya Taylor-Joy—and this time, Tommy’s opponent is his own son, played by Barry Keoghan.
