The upcoming third season of HBO’s The Last of Us will feature a different actor playing Manny.
Variety reports that Danny Ramirez, who appeared in Season 2, won’t be back for Season 3 because of scheduling issues. The show will be finding a new actor to play his part, but it’s currently unknown who that will be.
Spoilers for The Last of Us follow below.
Manny is a character in The Last of Us who helps move the story forward. He used to be with the Fireflies, but later joined the Washington Liberation Front. He was one of the people who assisted Abby in finding and killing Joel, after Joel killed many people at a Firefly hospital – including Abby’s father.
Besides starring in The Last of Us, Anthony Ramirez is recognized for playing Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Captain America: Brave New World and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He’ll reprise the role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.
Ramirez isn’t the only key person leaving the show for Season 3. Neil Druckmann, who was a co-showrunner, director, writer, and producer, left after Season 2 to concentrate on developing games at Naughty Dog, including their new release, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
Season 3 of The Last of Us is currently planned to arrive in 2027, and will likely center around the character of Abby. Meanwhile, the game developers at Naughty Dog are working on a new game called Intergalactic, and they may also be developing The Last of Us Part III.
