It’s undeniable: Wile E. Coyote endures constant misfortune. He’s repeatedly blown up, falls from great heights, and is always outsmarted by the Road Runner. Recently, though, he faced a different challenge: Warner Bros. attempted to shelve his first full-length movie, Coyote vs. Acme, simply for financial reasons. However, after some effort, the tenacious desert character will finally get his moment in court, thanks to Ketchup Entertainment – a distributor name that feels suspiciously like one of Acme’s products.
I just saw the first trailer for Coyote vs. Acme, and it looks like Wile E. might actually have a chance! It’s amazing to think that Warner Bros. supposedly wanted to shelve the movie. But honestly, I’m starting to wonder if it was actually Acme Corporation trying to bury it – they clearly don’t want anyone to see how they treat guys like Wile E.! It’s a really fun take on the classic cartoon.

Dave Green directed Coyote vs. Acme, a film based on a story by Ian Frazier and written by James Gunn and Samy Burch (who also wrote May December). The movie stars Will Forte, Lana Condor, and John Cena, and features many classic Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, Porky Pig, and Foghorn Leghorn. Some are hoping it will be a fun, energetic movie similar to Erin Brockovich, but with more “meep meep!” Coyote vs. Acme hits theaters on August 28th.
