Smart reality TV producers wouldn’t allow a major story to unfold only on social media. Vulture has confirmed that The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is starting production on its fifth season. While People magazine reported that Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen won’t be involved, Paul seems to dispute that. She commented on People’s Instagram post about the news, saying, “That’s not the call I got.”
As a fan, it was really upsetting to hear production on the show had to stop back in March. It all started when Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen, were being investigated for domestic assault. Then, an old video of Taylor throwing chairs – with her child present – came out, and Hulu actually pulled the season she filmed for The Bachelorette just days before it was supposed to air. Thankfully, the police have now said they won’t be pressing charges against Taylor, which is a huge relief. While Hulu hasn’t announced who will be on the next season yet, I’m hopeful this means Taylor might still have a chance to be part of it. Things are definitely looking better for her every day, and I’m glad to see her potentially getting a path back to TV.
While the focus has been elsewhere, the women featured on the show have been keeping busy. Whitney Leavitt is currently starring in the Broadway production of Chicago, and her performance is bringing in the best ticket sales the show has seen in its almost 30-year history. Jessi Draper’s husband recently filed for divorce. And Jen Affleck has been filming videos without her wedding ring and has moved homes five times in the past year. It seems like Hulu has a lot of material for the next season!
