CD Projekt Red recently shared a Cyberpunk 2077 post online that many fans believe hints at a potential announcement coming on December 10th, which marks the game’s fifth anniversary.
CD Projekt’s Marcin Momot has explained that the recent post wasn’t hinting at any new announcements. The team regularly shares these posts monthly to commemorate birthdays of characters from Cyberpunk, and this time they also included December 10th to mark the game’s fifth anniversary.
“It’s not a teaser. Hope this clears things up!” he wrote.
Cyberpunk 2077 came out on December 10, 2020, meaning its fifth anniversary is almost here. While the game had a rocky start with performance issues, the developers at CD Projekt have consistently released updates and improvements. As a result, it has now sold over 35 million copies.
When the game was released on Nintendo’s Switch 2 in June, it reached a wider audience. Building on the popularity of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt has started developing a sequel, Cyberpunk 2, with teams working in Boston, Warsaw, and Vancouver.
In addition to Cyberpunk 2 and the next Witcher game, CD Projekt is developing several other projects. These include a multiplayer Witcher experience, a brand new game codenamed Hadar, and a remake of the first Witcher title. They’re also partnering with Scopely in Saudi Arabia to create a new game based on one of their existing worlds.
