Per the official press release from DC Comics, “New Titans #38 follows Static as his path intersects with that of Jon Kent, a.k.a. Superman, at Mount Titans, just as an emissary from Wonder Girl’s tribe arrives seeking Yara Flor’s help against a rising force in the Amazon rainforests of Brazil. As the Titans prepare for their first major mission, Static steps into a team grappling with internal tensions and a threat powerful enough to challenge even their combined abilities.”
The issue will mark Static’s first major storyline in the mainline DC Universe , which paved the way for Static to make that leap during the DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight Special. This was followed by the events of New History of the DC Universe: The Dakota Incident, which retold the origins of the Milestone Universe’s premier heroes within the confines of the primary DC timeline.
As noted by the DC Comics press release, the budding crisis in the Amazon will push the Titans to their limits, while “Static’s arrival marks the spark that will drive the team into its most challenging mission yet. His return sets the stage for a high-stakes arc that reshapes the Titans’ path and reintroduces one of DC’s most electrifying heroes to the center of the action.”
What To Know Before New Titans #38 Arrives

The prelude will revolve around Virgil, and will bridge the events of The Kids Are All Fight and The Dakota Incident. More importantly, it will set Static on his collision course with the Titans, leading directly into the events of New Titans #38.
Recently, the Titans have been left reeling from being trapped within a simulated world, one in which their counterparts, the New Titans, seem to have taken their place entirely. As it turns out, this entire situation is being masterminded by , who was separated from his cybernetic half after being imbued with Alpha Energy in the aftermath of DC K.O Unfortunately, the now independent Cyborg appears to have some grave misunderstandings, which will certainly end in disaster one way or another.
New Titans #38 from DC Comics goes on sale on Aug.19.
