A huge Star Wars enthusiast just paid a record-breaking $1.3 million for a rare Boba Fett action figure, earning a place in the Guinness World Records.
Star Wars collectibles often sell for huge sums of money at auction. For example, a prop gun used in the films went for over $1 million, and a first-edition movie poster sold for nearly $4 million, according to Guinness World Records.
Action figures are also popular collectibles, and some can be very valuable. The most expensive one previously sold was a rare, early version of a Bib Fortuna figure from the Return of the Jedi line, which went for almost $50,000.
Only three of these Boba Fett figures exist today
The 1979 Rocket-Firing Boba Fett action figure, created by Kenner, is considered a highly prized and valuable collectible from the original Star Wars toy series.
A Star Wars action figure recently sold for $1,342,000 at a Goldin Auctions sale, setting a new Guinness World Record for the highest price ever paid for a Star Wars action figure at auction.

The high cost is because this is a rare prototype – only 30 were ever created. It wasn’t made for general sale because of concerns it could be unsafe for children.
Only three of these collectible figures are now known to exist, years after they were made. The one that recently sold for a record price was determined to be in the best condition of the three.
