Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Trailer Reveals Easter Eggs & Teases

The trailer for season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is full of hidden references and clues about what’s to come for Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the Starship Enterprise. Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Celia Rose Gooding, and Paul Wesley debuted the teaser at a Paramount+ event at CCXP Mexico.

Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is the second-to-last season and will have 10 episodes. The show has already finished filming season 5, which will be a shorter, 6-episode final season. This is expected to conclude Alex Kurtzman’s run producing Star Trek series on Paramount+, and is slated for release in 2027.

Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is the only new Star Trek show coming to Paramount+ for the rest of 2026, as the franchise celebrates its 60th anniversary. There’s a lot riding on this new season, as fan reactions to season 3 were mixed and the show Star Trek: Starfleet Academy faced some criticism.

Here are 18 teases and Easter eggs in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 4’s new trailer:

18. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4‘s Trailer Is A Safe Throwback

The teaser trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 doesn’t take any big risks. Considering how passionate fans are, the trailer focuses on classic Star Trek elements—exploring space, discovering new worlds and aliens—and features the show’s beloved characters.

The recently released trailer doesn’t mention the puppet episode that was revealed at Comic-Con 2025. It also doesn’t showcase the bold, experimental direction season 4 is taking, which is inspired by season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Unlike previous trailers for Strange New Worlds, this one features a classic orchestral score instead of a pop song.

17. Spock’s Hair Is Closer To Leonard Nimoy’s

The first trailer for season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds reveals a subtle change to Lieutenant Spock’s (Ethan Peck) appearance: his eyebrows are styled more like those worn by Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek: The Original Series. The new hairstyle gives Spock a more classic, familiar look.

The trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 doesn’t show any sign of a relationship developing between Spock and Lieutenant La’an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong). While fans expect their romance to continue, there’s no indication of it after season 3 focused heavily on love stories.

16. A Jurassic World?

Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is finally delivering on its promise of exploring new worlds, after season 3 largely took place within the confines of the Starship Enterprise. One particularly interesting episode features a planet that seems like a prehistoric era, complete with dinosaurs. It’s also possible the Enterprise has traveled back in time to Earth millions of years ago, when dinosaurs were the dominant species.

15. A Planet Explodes

Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds introduces a surprising new setting, witnessed by a mysterious ship. The destruction of planets has become more frequent in Star Trek since the 2009 film rebooted the franchise and destroyed Vulcan. The show, now on Paramount+, benefits from significantly better special effects, making these dramatic visuals more realistic and impactful.

14. Kirk Hugs Spock

The close friendship between Lt. Commander James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley) and Spock really began in the sixth episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3. They became even more connected after sharing a mind-meld in the season finale. In season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Kirk appears to be relying on his future best friend, Spock, even more.

13. A Starfleet Officer Crosses Into The Event Horizon

A striking visual moment in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 shows a Starfleet officer venturing into a black hole. Earlier in the season 4 trailer, the USS Enterprise came across a black hole, but it quickly becomes clear that this cosmic event is more complex than it initially seems.

12. Una & Pike Get Into A Phaser Fight

Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds promises lots of excitement, including a battle with mysterious foes for Captain Pike and Lt. Commander Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn). After a long time, Pike and Number One will be leading a mission together again, teaming up as the Enterprise’s top command officers.

11. A Zombie Hand Touches La’an’s Shoulder

Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds appears to have at least one episode focused on horror. While there’s a playful nod to a previous unusual episode with puppets, the new season seems genuinely spooky. We see the crew of the Enterprise investigating a wrecked ship, and in a chilling moment, La’an is touched on the shoulder by what looks like the hand of someone who isn’t alive. Luckily, the ship’s Chief of Security doesn’t frighten easily!

10. Aliens & La’an Gather In Engineering

In a scene aboard the Starship Enterprise, La’an is surrounded by several aliens, including one Andorian who bears a striking resemblance to the late Lieutenant Hemmer (Bruce Horak). It’s a welcome sight to see the Engineering bay again, especially since the Science Lab became the focus in season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

It’s interesting that Commander Pelia, the Enterprise’s Chief Engineer played by Carol Kane, doesn’t feature prominently in the trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4, unlike Scotty (Martin Quinn).

9. Kirk Screams & Is Sealed Away

A terrifying moment in season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds shows Lieutenant Commander James T. Kirk screaming as he’s locked away, leaving viewers to wonder what will happen to him. Paul Wesley will return as a guest star in at least one episode of the new season.
