Netflix recently released the first season of *Splinter Cell: Deathwatch*, a new animated series based on the popular Tom Clancy character, Sam Fisher. Both Netflix and the show’s creator, Derek Kolstad, quickly announced that the show will return for a second season.
Kolstad revealed during an IGN interview that ‘Deathwatch’ is coming back for a second season. He also hinted that work on Season 2 had begun even before the first season premiered this week, suggesting the show was likely renewed early on.
Kolstad shared that fans are really looking forward to seeing what happens next, and briefly touched on what the future holds for a character from the Season 1 finale.

Kolstad explained that when revisiting unresolved plot points, shows typically handle them in one of three ways: by addressing them immediately, ignoring them completely, or using a combination of both. He said the second season of the show takes a hybrid approach, balancing a broader, more expansive story with a focus on personal character moments and detailed action.
When questioned about the fate of the show’s dog, Kaiju, Kolstad assured fans that “Kaiju will always be safe.”
I’m really excited about the new animated series, *Splinter Cell: Deathwatch*! It’s so cool to hear Liev Schreiber reprise his role as Sam Fisher, but this time he’s mentoring a new agent, Zinnia Mckenna, voiced by Kirby Howell-Baptiste. You can watch all of Season 1 on Netflix right now. As a long-time fan of the *Splinter Cell* games, I’m still eagerly awaiting the remake that was announced a while back in 2022. But to tide us over, *Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow* just dropped on Steam, and the *Splinter Cell Legacy Collection* is on sale too, which is awesome!
