Some fans are questioning the pricing of World Cup tickets after one appeared online for less than the cost of a beer at the stadium.
The 2026 World Cup, hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, starts in just under a month, and many fans worldwide are wondering what to expect from the tournament.
One of the biggest complaints from fans attending the tournament has been the high cost of tickets, which are more expensive than in past years. Prices for the final have become incredibly inflated, even reaching $2 million for some, prompting FIFA President Gianni Infantino to jokingly offer a hot dog and Coke to anyone willing to pay that much.
Ticket prices from resellers are starting to decrease, likely because fans are waiting for prices to become more affordable.
Saudi Arabia vs Cape Verde ticket appears online for $7
Economist Florian Ederer recently noticed a ticket for the Saudi Arabia versus Cape Verde soccer match in Houston, Texas, being sold online for under $7.
The ticket, originally priced at about $139, was listed for just $6.94, but the final price with fees ended up being $7.98. An Austrian economist commented that this was a clear error in pricing, and a new record low.
According to Goal.com, attending a Houston Dynamo or Dash game is actually more affordable than buying a beer or a small item at NRG Stadium, where those typically cost around $13.

Many social media users questioned the low price, pointing out that some sellers were still asking over $100 for the game. When TopMob looked, tickets on Ticketmaster were still listed at $165, and there are a lot of other resale sites to consider.
One person described the game as likely one of the least exciting in World Cup history. Another expressed shock at ticket prices, noting they were seeing them listed for around $1,000. A third person then shared they had paid only $146 for their ticket and now felt they’d overpaid.
Many fans have pointed out that parking at the stadium is surprisingly expensive – sometimes costing more than the tickets to the game itself. In Los Angeles, for example, official parking passes can cost as much as $300 for certain events.
FIFA is facing criticism after an artist painted over a well-known mural in Dallas, even though the city isn’t hosting any World Cup games. The games are actually being held in nearby Arlington, about 20 miles away.
Haitian fans would need to spend the equivalent of 25 years’ salary to buy tickets to see their team play in the opening game.
