Scientology speedrun trend escalates as viewers map out Hollywood facility

A popular TikTok trend where people race through Scientology buildings has taken an unexpected turn. Now, viewers are trying to create maps of the inside of a Hollywood Scientology facility using videos from these speedruns.

The trend started when a creator named Swhileyy posted a video on March 31st of himself running through a Church of Scientology building in Los Angeles. The video became incredibly popular online, gaining over 90 million views and encouraging others to make similar videos.

The challenge is straightforward: participants run into a Scientology building, quickly record video of the inside, and attempt to leave without being stopped by staff or security. Videos show people dashing through corridors, evading employees, and sometimes being removed almost immediately.

Viewers are mapping Scientology building from viral runs

Recently, a verified user named Jack on platform X shared an image claiming it was a newly compiled map of the Scientology building. He said the map was created using footage that went viral. The image showed a basic, hand-drawn floor plan, putting together details like hallways, rooms, desks, and larger spaces seen in the videos.

This map isn’t an official blueprint and hasn’t been checked for accuracy. Still, the post became very popular, earning millions of views as people noticed a change: instead of just sharing quick prank videos, users were now working together to create a map of the building.

The trend has also faced backlash from ex-Scientologists and those who campaign against the organization, who worry it might diminish valid concerns about Scientology. Leah Remini, a well-known former member and critic, has urged content creators to stop filming themselves running into Scientology buildings.

Leah Remini criticized a recent trend of people going to Scientology buildings to cause reactions and post videos on TikTok. She argued that this isn’t genuine investigation, but rather a pursuit of views, and it trivializes important issues by turning them into entertainment content.

She explained that the protest actually gives Scientology what it’s looking for: a chance to portray itself as the injured party.

The issue has grown beyond just videos spreading online. Los Angeles police are looking into reports of teenagers attempting a “speed run” at a Scientology building in Hollywood. Meanwhile, in Clearwater, Florida, 19-year-old Feliks Acar was arrested for allegedly shooting a CO2-powered BB gun at a Church of Scientology building, breaking the front door’s glass.

Swhileyy has stated he doesn’t support others trying to replicate his original run and has clarified he never encouraged them to do so.
