I’m so thrilled to hear Matlock is coming back for Season 3! Honestly, it wasn’t a shock – the show’s been a real success for CBS, and critics absolutely love it. Looking at Rotten Tomatoes, the first two seasons have a 91% rating, and Season 2 even jumped up to 93% – a little better than the 90% from Season 1. It seems like the critics are really impressed! The audience score is a bit lower at 66%, so hopefully more viewers will discover and love it too!

The season 2 finale of Matlock will air on CBS on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 9 to 11 pm Eastern Time. Matlock will return for season 3 in 2027 as part of CBS’s midseason schedule.
