Russell Crowe’s $359M Historical Epic Is About To Leave Streaming Entirely In Just 3 Days

Russell Crowe’s historical epic is sailing off streaming very soon.

I remember when Russell Crowe really broke through for me – I loved him in L.A. Confidential and The Insider, and he even got his first Oscar nod for the latter! But it was Gladiator in 2000 that really made him a huge star, and deservedly so – he won the Best Actor Oscar for that role. He kept the momentum going with A Beautiful Mind, earning another Oscar nomination. Since then, he’s become something of a master of the historical epic – I’ve enjoyed films like Master and Commander, Robin Hood, and Noah. Actually, I just heard one of those is heading to a streaming service soon, which is exciting!

As a total film buff, I’m excited to share that Darren Aronofsky’s Noah – you know, the one based on the biblical story and starring Russell Crowe – is heading to streaming in just three days! Aronofsky, who’s an Oscar nominee thanks to Black Swan, really tackles the epic tale of Noah building that massive ark to save two of every animal before a huge flood wipes everything out. It’s a visually stunning film, and I’m looking forward to revisiting it.

According to JustWatch, the show Noah will be removed from Peacock in three days, at the end of the month. While it won’t be available on Peacock after that, you can still watch it for free with ads on Pluto TV, or by subscribing to the Vix streaming service.

Besides Russell Crowe as the main character, the film Noah features an impressive cast including Academy Award winners Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs, The Father), as well as Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, Finn Wittrock, Gavin Casalegno, Marton Csokas, and Madison Davenport. Frank Langella, Nick Nolte, Mark Margolis, and Kevin Durand provide voice performances.

The film Noah was generally well-received, earning a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics appreciated how director Darren Aronofsky updated the classic biblical story for today’s viewers, maintaining a personal and emotional core through strong acting and visually impressive scenes. The movie also performed well financially, grossing over $359 million worldwide and becoming Aronofsky’s most commercially successful film.

As a film fan, I remember Noah really split people when it came out. It only got a 41% audience score, and a lot of the discussion wasn’t about the story itself, but about what some saw as a heavy-handed environmental message and the fact that it drew inspiration from texts outside the Bible, like the Book of Enoch. It actually wasn’t allowed to be shown in China for religious reasons, and several Muslim countries banned it because of how it depicted figures considered prophets in Islam.

The movie Noah sparked discussion among some Christians, mainly because it used stories from sources other than the Bible – particularly the Book of Enoch – instead of sticking only to the story of Genesis. It borrowed a lot from Enoch’s account of the flood, including details about beings called the Nephilim. If you haven’t seen it, you can watch Noah on Peacock over the next three days and decide for yourself before it’s no longer available to stream.
