I’m so hyped for the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege Season 2 of Year 11! From what I’ve heard, Dokkaebi is getting a big rework, and they’re completely overhauling the Ranked system with Ranked 3.0. Plus, we’re getting a brand new map to play on! They’re also tweaking the balance for a bunch of operators – Nomad, Deimos, Solis, and a whole lot more. I can’t wait to jump in and see everything they’ve changed!
Rainbow Six Siege Y11S2 Operation System Override Release Date – What’s New?
The new Rainbow Six Siege update, Operation System Override, launches on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026. You can play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. PC players can also try it out early on the Test Server, starting May 19th, 2026.
So, what can players expect to see in the latest season?
Dokkaebi Rework – Everything you need to know
Okay, so Dokkaebi is super popular right now, and they just gave her this awesome new ability called Jegeo Payload. Basically, when I use it, I can target one Defender, and their phone will start overheating. If they don’t quickly fix it, boom – it explodes! It’s a really cool way to disrupt their setup.
If this phone explodes, it deals damage and can start a fire, with increased damage if the target doesn’t move. It also forces enemies to relocate, disrupts their focus, and briefly prevents them from eliminating other players. While previously easier to ignore, Dokkaebi’s latest ability recharges quickly and has multiple uses, making her a challenging opponent.
Dokkaebi’s arsenal has been updated! She can now equip the XK23, alongside her existing options of the BOSG.12.2 and MK 14 EBR. The XK23 is particularly effective at medium range, which could be a real advantage on the new Calypso map.
Ranked 3.0 – Matchmaking Updates, New Rank Divisions, Placement Matches, & More
The latest season features a significant overhaul to Ranked mode. Instead of using a Matchmaking Rating (MMR), the game now considers your current rank, how many players are on your team, and your region to find matches. Also, to ensure fair play, players can only team up with squadmates who are within three ranks of them – or two ranks for those in Diamond and Champion tiers.
Speaking of Champion Rank, the devs also added new divisions to the rank, which includes:
- Champion I
- Chaampion II
- Champion III
- Champion IV
- Champion V
I’m so excited Operation System Override is bringing back Placement Matches! Basically, at the start of every new season, everyone’s rank gets reset, which means we all have to play five placement matches to get a fresh rank. It’s cool because while your performance from the last season does matter a bit, these matches help the game figure out exactly where your skill level is at right now, so you’re placed in the right rank to start with.
The new Ranked season includes a refreshed rewards system. Winning matches now counts as two steps forward on the rewards track, so we’re encouraging competitive play to help you unlock everything faster. You’ll also get unique charms and backgrounds based on your final rank. Plus, everyone who participates can earn a special, limited-time headgear!
New Map: Calypso + Modernized Maps
The latest update to Rainbow Six Siege, Operation System Override, introduces a new map called Calypso. Inspired by locations in Rainbow Six: Vegas, Calypso is a casino setting that blends familiar design elements with improvements tailored for competitive Siege gameplay.
Calypso, the new map, introduces a rooftop crane, a basement area, a network of drone vents, and fresh pathways for more tactical gameplay. You can experience Calypso in several modes including Ranked, Unranked, Quick Team, Team Deathmatch, Landmark Drill, and Clear House. Plus, it’s available for a limited time in the Discovery Playlist, running from June 2nd to June 9th.
Additionally, the new Modernized Maps include:
- Emerald Plains
- Kanal
- Outback
Gameplay & Anti-Toxicity Improvements
Beyond the game’s remaster, a major update for Dokkaebi is the addition of mouse and keyboard support on consoles. Starting mid-season, players can use their mouse and keyboard within the PC cross-play pool – it’s not allowed in other game modes. This allows for text chat and a more comfortable control scheme for those who prefer it.
Furthermore, the developers made a few adjustments to abandon penalties:
- They are now calculated based on time spent away
- Matchmaking penalties scale based on negative units a player builds up in the Abandon Action of the Reputation Center.
Ranked Map Rotations
- Pro League – maps remain fixed for the full season
- Showcased Maps – hand-picked by the level design team and highlighted in the map ban when available. Each showcase lasts a few weeks
- Seasonal Maps – rotates between updates
Rotating Trial Operators & Balance Changes
Each week, players get free access to a rotating selection of three Attack and three Defense Operators. This allows them to try out different characters for a week in various game modes, including Enlisted, Quick Match, Team Deathmatch, Unranked, Ranked, and Siege Cup.
Furthermore, the following Operators are receiving some balance changes:
- Stepping on a Trax causes limping for 10 seconds.
- Increase spike health to 35hp (from 1).
- Reduced first Trax deploy delay to 0.40 seconds (from 0.45).
- Reduced deploy time to 0.45 seconds (from 0.5).
- Reduced Canister throw time to 0.40 seconds (from 0.45).
- Reduced Trax amount to 3 (from 4)
ZOFIA
Zofia has been updated to be quicker and more user-friendly. Her health has been reduced to 2, but her speed has been increased to 2 (previously, she had 3 health and a speed of 1).
NOMAD
Nomad detects enemies at a longer range with Airjabs. The range increased to 3.25 from 3 seconds.
MOZZIE
Mozzie can now intercept enemy drones from farther away, enhancing intelligence protection. Its capture range has been increased from 1.5 meters to 1.75 meters.
PULSE
Pulse’s Cardiac Sensor now has an increased scan distance, up to 10.5 meters from 9.
SOLIS
Solis can now use her powers for a longer time. The duration of both SPEC-IO and Overclock has been extended from 15 to 17 seconds.
DEIMOS
Deimos can now lock onto enemies faster after spotting them with his DeathMARK Tracker. We’ve reduced the delay from 5 seconds to just 4.
Additionally, some weapons received some love in this update:
WEAPONS:
AK‑74M
The AK-74M now has horizontal, vertical, and angled grips.
XK23
In addition to Dokkaebi, Rauora and Sens now also have the XK23 as a new primary weapon.
That covers all the big updates planned for Rainbow Six Siege Year 11 Season 2. We’re excited to try out the Calypso content and the updated version of Dokkaebi. We’ll see you when Operation System Override is released!
