Quentin Tarantino is well-known for his intense, often profane, movies. Over the past several decades, he’s directed a variety of stories, building a reputation for creating violent and over-the-top cinematic worlds. He began directing in the late 1980s and gained widespread recognition with his 1992 film, Reservoir Dogs.
Whether through blockbuster franchises like Kill Bill or critically acclaimed films such as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight, audiences worldwide are familiar with Quentin Tarantino’s unique style. Though he plans to retire soon, one of his earlier films from the mid-2000s is scheduled for a re-release in 2026, bringing his work to a new generation.
After almost twenty years, Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof is coming to Peacock on May 22nd. Currently, U.S. viewers can still stream the film on the Criterion Channel.
Kurt Russell stars in this horror film as Mike McKay, a stuntman who is secretly a serial killer. He targets women in a terrifying way – through high-speed, deadly car chases, perfectly capturing the film’s title, Death Proof. Written, directed, and produced by the filmmaker behind Pulp Fiction, the 2007 movie earned $31.1 million at the box office, having cost $30 million to make.
The movie Death Proof boasts a talented cast including Rosario Dawson as Abernathy Ross, Sydney Tamiia Poitier as Jungle Julia Lucai, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lee Montgomery, and Rose McGowan as Pam. Eli Roth plays Dov, Tracie Thoms is Kim Mathis, and stuntwoman Zoë Bell appears as herself. Director Quentin Tarantino, known for often appearing in his own films, plays the character Warren.
Although some consider Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof a failure, it actually has respectable scores on Rotten Tomatoes – 67% from critics and 71% from audiences – as of today. Now that it’s becoming available on streaming later this month, a new generation of viewers will have a chance to discover it, and it could find a different kind of success years after its 2007 release.
Catch Death Proof on Peacock in the United States starting on May 22.
